What most people go to Dong Yan Inn for is their meat chun. If you don't know what that is, it's thin slices of meat that's in an egg batter then fried. I've tried meat chun at many other places, but no where can you find a better meat chun than at Dong Yang. What makes theirs better is that the meat is so tender and the egg batter is tasty and you get a lot for $9.50. You also get a chicken broth soup, won bok kim chee and head cabbage kim chee as starters, then with your plate you'll get beansprouts, salted cabbage, and potato salad. There's lots of other things on their menu, but their meat chun is what they're known for.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is terrible. They're good food is what brings people to Dong Yang, not the ambiance. The interior is really in need of a remodel. The floors are worn and dirty, the walls are dirty, and there's cardboard by the rear door to soak up any water that may have seeped in from the outside. So if you can overlook the filth, you'll enjoy the food.

They simply have the best meat chun ever!
Nothing has changed in this local established Korean eatery
Don't expect a nice atmosphere as you will be disappointed
It's all about the food here
And they excel at Korean food
If you eat it in
You will be served a nice chicken broth soup
Best kim Chee ever
And if you order it
The best meat chun plate with rice and vegetables
Perfect meat chun , meat is soft and the egg is crispy
And so flavorful
I'm hungry just writing about it

I had heard good things about them, and we weren't disappointed! It has a hometown atmosphere... a lot of local customers. It seemed like they all knew someone from each bunch of customers. We did a take out order... was serviced by someone who could've been your auntie. Service was fast and friendly. The serving portions were large - one order was enough for two people. The only tip we had was if you where planning on doing a take out and you know what you want to order - then call in your order. That is what their 'regulars' seem to do.

Not sure what the big deal is since this is just another local Hawaii Korean BBQ place. Most Korean BBQ places are fairly good and this is no exception. Dirty place with good tasting food. The meat chun is tasty and plentiful. The kalbi was tender but there were only two slices. Only complaint is the Kim Chee was a little sour.....will I go back? Of course.

"Fine Korean Food" is what they on their menu, "Since,1975". Take their word for this. The meals we four had were delicious - and the chicken broth soup is offered as a light and lovely first course, after the kim chi, naturally. The atmosphere...none, unless you remember Wahiawa in the 70's. Kali was delicious. So instead of walking into McDonalds, just use their parking lot and walk across Olive Street and try this place. We ended up ordering another take out (they also cater) so our absent member could enjoy what we had just eaten. And - the most expensive thing on the menu was $16.00, most dinners under $10!
