This was the place that taught me I didn't have to keep getting fast food to save money. The line was so long at McD's (right across the street, Don Yang is behind McDonald's) so I thought, "What the heck." It became my favorite restaurant for the two years I lived on Oahu. Portions are amazing (big enough for two lite eaters) with double scoop rice, potato/macaroni salad (no, not your choice of potato or macaroni; it's mixed together!), some kim chee. Then, hibacheed beef or my favorite, the dark meat chicken. Also amazing: Meat jun, a fried beef cutlet which goes from pretty good to great because of the modified interesting soy sauce it comes with. The soup they start the meal with? Bad. It just tastes like a little grease, chicken flavored, in hot water. I mean, for "free" it's ok. Prices are GREAT. Yes, it's a little run down. Service is just fair (though there was a cute girl who worked there who'd always come over to say hello to me whether she was my waitress or not). Overall, one of my favorite restaurants in the world --- because of the simple yet amazing food!
