“Kokokahi really is a Hawaiian "hideaway"”

Tucked away on a hill with a delightful 180 degree view, don't expect the hustle bustle and energy of Waikiki. A vehicle is a must and we enjoyed the fact that Honolulu or Waikiki was only about 45 minutes away. Our family of four, including a wheelchair occupant, had lots of room here. We all felt quite comfortable in our surroundings and were made very welcome by the owner, who was staying there during our visit, but who respected our privacy completely. The home is clean and well equipped, the master bedroom spacious and private, with a very comfortable bed. The grounds are lovely and the breeze is welcome. While we had looked forward to the pool, it wasn't used due to the temperature, so I would have to recommend potential renters be aware of that during Hawaii's winter months. Appliances are good, wifi good. The following info is for anyone looking at property with a wheelchair: our occupant is our daughter, so she was able to maneuver her chair into all bedrooms and into the kitchen albeit it was tight from dining table to fridge. Access from vehicle to house is good, house to patio also good. Lots of room in ensuite shower for chair; not roll in, has a lip. Halls and doorways normal width. Very open concept in greater rooms. No open space under bathroom or kitchen sinks, so this was really the only drawback for her, and we were able to work around this (rarely find perfection with accessibility). All in all we found this accommodation to be very acceptable for our 3 week vacation.

“Cold pool!”
Reviewed 14 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

First the good: nice view, good wifi, short drive to beaches and shops, spacious bedrooms, adequate cookware, good property manager, and the house was clean and tidy on arrival. But....a very average property, no extras, not walking distance to anything, terrible lighting, small TV, no land line, no music system, minimal lounger seating around the pool. This home looks good only in daylight when the view is all you see. Lots of space and a nice patio with the view, but traffic flow through kitchen and dining would make this home a challenge for more than four people. My big issue, and what I wish I had known before booking, is that the pool was far too cold for swimming during our New Year's stay - it's not heated. The pool is the only reason I booked this house, and it was unusable. I would have found better value with a different rental.

Aloha Jennifer,

Thank you for your comments. With out guests comments we would not know what and how to make things better. All your suggestions will be taken and used to make it better. As far as the cold pool, unfortunately your trip here is in our winter months. Even though we are in a tropical setting we still have a very much "winter" time. Having a heated pool here in the islands is quite an expensive and useless thing for 9 months out of a year. I would hope that maybe you come and visit us during our summer time so you could appreciate a pool as it should be. Thank you again for all your comments and suggestions.
