We rented this unit in October of 2015. We were so excited to be on the more quiet side of the island where we wouldn't have to put up with the traffic and congestion of Waikiki. Our hopes were quickly dashed as we entered this unit. It was not what we had expected at all. If we had know what it was really like, we would not have rented it.
-It is really close to the PCC, which is nice when you have to drive back at 9:00pm.
-Jenna, the property manager, is very kind and empathetic. It's a good thing, because we got to know her quite well, even though she lives on the other side of the island.
-The maintenance man is very nice as well, very relaxed--you get to know him pretty well too.
-No Air Conditioning. We were greeted with a nice, hot blast of air when we arrived.
-Loud neighbor parties until 3am.
-Dirty bathrooms with mildewed shower curtains. Towel bars missing & broken. The vent fans were nasty, however they are cleaner after we stayed. We cleaned them because we were afraid of the fire risk they posed due to the build up of fuzz on them. Whomever they are paying to clean--really isn't doing much.
-exposed wires hanging from one of the bedroom ceilings where a smoke detector used to be. Uncovered outlet--would be nasty if you had curious little fingers.
-limited dishes to prepare and eat food that you would prepare in the full kitchen
-Just in case you aren't warm enough, the dryer vents into the unit. That seems like a fire risk to me too.
-The coded entry lock broke. Jenna came to fix it--from what she said, it happens frequently. It broke almost every day. They would not give us a key to the deadbolt, they just kept trying to fix the coded entry lock. We finally went and bought a deadbolt so we could lock up the unit while we weren't there.
-It was so far away from everything but the PCC!
-The furniture is rickety and falling apart. The sofa is vinyl and it flakes off when you sit on it. There was not enough space for us to sit in one room together.
-Kitchen is not very well equipped. One of the reasons we rented this unit was because it had a full kitchen and we could eat in the unit. Pans were not big enough to prepare meals for 9 people. There weren't enough plates for 9 people. What is there seems like a mismatched hodgepodge collection of dishes.
-There was no place for our large group to sit and eat. They had one small bar height table with 2 rickety saddle stools.
-There is no TV service--which is fine, right? I mean they have free wi-fi! If you can connect to the wi-fi, then that would really be something. The strongest signal we were able to get was outside the unit on the front porch. and it was one bar--maybe 2 at 3am.
-Dashed dreams. We spent a lot of money to bring our 5 children on a dream vacation. This was hardly a dream place.
We asked for our money back so that we could find a place that would be more suitable. That did not happen. For our last 2 nights we just left the unit and found better lodging elsewhere.
