The location is fantastic, both in terms of proximity to activities but also in terms to the beach. This may be the closest to the ocean I've ever been in an hotel. The views out the window over the small balcony are fantastic and sweeping.

The resort is a typical condotel type set up. The location is great but the facility is average at best. The staff is competant, but check in and check out is more cumbersome than it should be and they try and pitch you on all of their free activities and selling you a unit. We blew that off and it's not mandatory, but I hate getting "sold" on something the moment I arrive.

The pool area is nice, the beach is great, and the views are wonderful. These would be incredible during whale season.

I would definitely stay here again, though be aware you're paying for the view and location, not any amenities. It is a condotel, not a resort.

Room Tip: It appears almost all of the rooms on the ocean side have floor to ceiling windows. If you don't have an OV, stay somewhere cheaper.

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to post your comments on your recent stay at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali. I would like to clarify that our 24 hour Aston front desk does not sell anything, there is a desk in the lobby staffed by Expedia who is the concierge for our property. They are there to help our guests to enjoy the plentiful array of activities on the island, I believe they do offer a way to save some money on these activities by doing a time share presentation but they do not push this and as you said it is not mandatory.
As you mentioned we believe that our location and oceanfront views available from every unit here are second to none and that our units, all with fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryer, provide all the conveniences of home.
We are also a short walk or drive away from many shopping and dining options should you be able to tear yourself away from the views and our pool/jet spa deck where we also feature complimentary gas grills.
All of us here at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali hope to have another chance to show you the Aloha Spirit in the future.

Mahalo, Brian

All rooms have full kitchens and terraces overlooking the ocean. It's not just a hotel: some rooms are condos and others are time shares. When informed it was my birthday, the desk clerk went in back and brought out a box of candy for us. She also called our room before we checked out to let us know that the highway was closed because of an accident and that we should give ourselves extra time to get to the airport. That's A+ service right there.

Aloha and mahalo for both choosing the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali and for your A plus comments on your stay here. Just one clarification, all units here at the Mahana are privately owned, we are not a time share property. Many of the units are in the Aston rental program and receive the services of our 24 hour front desk as well as on-site daily housekeeping and maintenance. Our entire staff is here to exceed our guest's expectations and show the Aloha Spirit to all we encounter.
All units here at the Mahana feature the same spectacular oceanfront views and the convenience of fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryer.

The entire staff here at the Aston Mahana looks forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We stayed at the premier oceanfront room (#407) at Aston Mahana in the Molokini Tower. The view was stunning , breathtaking from the family room, bedroom , kitchen, and of course Lanai. The stay was perfect - can't ask for anything more. Location is ultimate - closet to the water, close to grocery store and other amenities . There is a concierge on site to take care of all activities that you are interested in. Pool and spa are perfect for the family .. take a couple of steps from the pool and you are on the beach ... perfect stay, will stay again there.

Aloha and mahalo for choosing the Aston Mahana for your time on the beautiful island of Maui. We're thrilled to hear that our friendly and helpful staff exceeded all of your expectations and our second to none location steps from the quieter end of northern Kaanapali beach which allows for those breathtaking oceanfront views from every unit here allowed you to have a fantastic stay.

We can't wait to welcome you back again soon.

First, let me say that I rented thru a private owner and not thru Aston, so I didn't interact with their staff that much (unit #607 which is awesome BTW). That said, when I did interact with them things were fine. The property is great. Pros: right on the ocean (not even a strip of road between you and the water), you can sleep with the doors/windows open listening to sound of waves, AC is rarely needed, nice pool, nice grills around the pool area that are cleaned daily, lot of eating places very close by. Cons: beach is narrow, better for listening to at night than for swimming, location is Ka'anapali which means drives to the crater, road to Hana, or even the great south Maui beaches will be longer. Even getting down to Big Beach in south Maui takes an hour. If being able to wake up, drink coffee to the sounds and view of the water as well as go to bed with that setting is important to you, it's hard to beat this place. I personally was surprised at how little time we spent in the condo so if I had to do over I might consider another place that made drive times to Makena, etc, more palatable.

We met with AWESOME Susan this morning to plan some activities for our vacation on Maui. She answered all of our questions, gave great suggestions, booked everything and got us the best deals. She really knows her stuff!! We will be kayaking, snorkeling, going on a dinner cruise and seeing a great Elvis show on Christmas Day! Life can't get better than that. Never book anything without the help of Tripadvisor!!
