I reviewed this property last year and all that I said is still how I feel, but the only difference now is that their hula show is now just on Wednesdays and not every day. It's still and always a great show and we went twice this year. I recommend anyone in the area to go and see this free show.

This was our second stay at Austin Kaanapali Shores. This stay was amazing!! From the minute we walked in to check in from the time we checked out everything was perfect!

Check-in was great, the lady that checked us in noticed we had been there before and gave us a welcome back coupon dinner at the restaurant, then when she found out it was both of our birthdays during our stay she gave us a coupon for a drink at the bar!

She also gave us a great room overlooking the garden and pool and some macadamia nuts to enjoy!!

She was super nice and funny! We did not get her name :(

We go to Maui twice a year, we will be staying at the AKS from now on!! Great place! Clean rooms the maid service was awesome.
All of the staff was so polite and always acknowledged us.

Thank you Austin Kaanapali Shores for a great stay!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the kids pool get a lot of bird singing, which we didn't mind at all!

We have stayed here 6 of the times we have been to Maui. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained, and very clean. Two pools, restaurant and walk up bar, for a great day poolside, with ocean out front. We book a super saver room with kitchen. Which is well stocked should we choose to stay in. There is a strip mall across the street with good restaurants, and a grocery store. Very convienent. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have never had a bad experience here. We plan to return next year.

We've visited Maui 16 times and have stayed at a variety of places--from the Hyatt Regency and Napili Kai to some of the lower end resorts and condominiums. This time we decided to try the Aston Kaanapali Shores--which is located at the other end of Kaanapali, up toward Napili and Kapalua--in part because we were able to get a package that included breakfasts and a car. It turned out to be a very wise decision. The resort is well located 10 minutes from Lahaina and 5 from Whaler's Village. It has everything you'd want, with one exception I'll note below. First, all of the good things, and there are many. We had a great one-bedroom suite (called a "standard one bedroom" on the website). It was about 900 square feet and included a nice bedroom, huge living room/dining room combo, good sized bath and nice little kitchen. We also had a patio overlooking the pool and gardens, with a view of the ocean. The grounds are beautiful--lots of lush foliage, lawns, palm trees and walkways--with two large pools. One of the pools is more family-oriented, with waterfalls, bridges, water jets, koi ponds. The other pool, designed more for adults, is more of a simple square, but close to the ocean and the bar. Both pools had a good-sized hot tub. The staff is wonderful. Everyone was helpful, friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. The lady at the front desk, Vange (pronounced like Angie with a V) was amazing in that she actually remembered everyone's name and room number and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know resort guests. The onsite restaurant was quite good and again was enhanced by knowledgeable servers with a long tenure at the resort. Another plus was the fast elevators. This is an often overlooked item, but there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for elevators or standing in an elevator that takes forever to climb a few floors. The elevators at Kaanapali Shores are among the quickest to arrive and fastest to climb I've ever seen. The only negative is that the beach had all but disappeared. The heavy storms this year have created a permanent high tide that covers the sand. Fortunately, there are good public beaches within a two to five minute drive. And when the summer weather arrives, the tide will recede and the beach should re-appear. Despite this one issue, I'd recommend Kaanapali Shores without hesitation. It's an affordable, high quality option on Maui.

I took the free introductory scuba lesson at the Kaanapali Shores resort this trip, and it was great!
The owner/ instructor Jim has over 30 years of instruction behind him, and was extremely thorough covering the basics for all 4 of us in this class.
Following the pool session, 2 of us booked the follow-up shore dive ($129 and worth every cent).
Mahal I to Jim for an unforgettable experience!
