We booked our whale watching trip with the Pacific Whale Foundation. It was wonderful!!! It's the largest boat that is used for these tours...perfect for me, as I experience motion sickness. Didn't have any issues :)
The staff is so knowledgeable and fun. We saw soooo many whales during our 2 hour trip. This is a MUST DO!!!

Although we could see the whales from our resort, we took a tour on a catamaran so we could experience them up close. Easy to site and a lot of fun to watch. Don't miss!

I couldn't disagree more with the last review but appreciate others do have bad experiences.

We found staff very friendly and accommodating. Drinks for us were $3 for beers and cocktails and $1 for soda's.

Our boat was only 2/3 full but it still appeared spacious enough. We were a party of 6 with a 6 year old and a 4 month baby. We had sufficient shade for the baby and the boat was easy to move around with the little one. There was enough room for a stroller but I would avoid taking one if possible and I used a baby carrier instead so had hands free; you are asked to have one hand free at all times if the water is choppy.

We were on the catamaran with seats and netting at the front then seats under cover at the back. The boat was clean and as well maintained as a boat that goes out daily could be.

We saw a mother and its baby less than 15 feet away from the boat and everyone had a good view. We were told that this happened often with this boat so check when the catamaran is going out as some trips it is double deck boat.

We booked initially with Boss Frog via the online chat then as we couldn't easily phone from our hotel room, Jennifer from the company kindly called us. She was incredibly helpful and patient as we discussed options. She was also on the boat trip and was very friendly and knowledgeable. The booking vouchers took some time to come through but we could have phoned them if they hadn't.

10/10 for both the trip and Boss Frog as a company; no complaints at all!

Worst whale watch ever...We booked a party of 18 local residents, each couple called in advance and pre-paid per their instructions. They said they would e-mail a receipt which they never did, but when I called back, was assured my name was on the list of pre-paid. They made our whole party wait till the rest of the boat loaded, could not find our reservations, then when the party organizer proved we paid in advance, the boat was overbooked and someone had to go home. The staff was rude and surly, never apologized or offered a refund for their errors. Then they charged $6 for a rot-gut bargain drink when they advertised $3. The boat was so crowded, there were not enough seats for everybody and most could not get views af the whales. Boat is run down and dirty...we go on several whale watches every year, and this is the worst one on Maui.
