“Don't Stay Anywhere Else But HERE!”
Reviewed 12 June 2015 for a stay in January 2015

This is a much-delayed review of our fantastic stay (my husband and I, with our 20 and 22 year-old children) at Valley Isle condo #708. This was my 50th-birthday celebration - my first trip to Maui (been to Kauai 25 years ago). Kay and Vijay happened to be there and came to greet us personally. When we arrived, there was a basket with a fresh pineapple, bananas, snacks, and macadamia nuts!

The place is clean, perfect for a couple in the master bedroom with a sliding door so you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. We were there on the night of one of the biggest storms in recent history so the waves were VERY LOUD. They were big and almost washed into the swimming pool on the next complex on the right. The next day, our tours for Road to Hana and Volcano bike trip were cancelled. The back bedroom only has windows facing the hallway, so it's mostly closed, but the kids weren't there for the view.. The twin beds were perfect for a brother and sister. The breeze in the hallway is amazing! The elevators are fast!

We shopped at Safeway, less than 10 minutes south of the complex. They had a sale on steaks (cheaper than what we pay for on the mainland). We grilled steaks in the complex. There are a few very-nice gas grills by the swimming pool (which we did not use). Those were some of our best meals there.

Across the street, there was a micro brewery/restaurance where we ate on our last night there. We had breakfast a couple of times at the McDonald's across the street.. It's always fun to find food at McDonald's that is local to the area, e.g. Taro pie or breakfast with Portugese Sausage. Next to McDonald's are a couple of gift shops. One of them is also a convenient store for beer, wine, snacks.

Right across the street form the parking lot is the Kahana Boss Frog where we rented snorkeling gear for the week and they have prescription goggles. They also sell tour packages. On this strip mall, you will also find a restaurant and another convenient store.

Costco is in town near the airport. If you are a member and come at a time when it's open, it's good to stock up on supplies and souvenirs! Gas was $2.40 a gallon at Costco and $4 at the other gas stations!

I feel you definitely need a car if you want to stay here, but parking is free! A car can get you easily into Lahaina - park at the Whaler's Village and walk along the shores. Shop or eat at the restaurants to get a sticker for parking in the ramp. We also drove north to watch the surfers and drove into the Kapalua Golf Course by the Ritz Carlton and walked along the trail over looking Oneloa Bay.

We stayed there for a week and wish we can stay longer. We bumped into several people who come back to this resort year after year. One finally bought one condo herself.

We were here for the first week of January so it's a bit chilly, but perfect for Minnesotan's when it was subzero back home. The waters were a bit rough for snorkeling and it didn't help to have the big storm on the 2nd day we were there. But even then, we saw whales breaching in the distance. I highly recommend this place and if I were to come back to Maui, this is where I would want to stay.

BEFORE I forget! Having young adults, WIFI is a must. The router is in the living room and we had 7 ipads/iphones accessing wifi with no issues!

ALSO, because our flight left at 10 pm, Kay and Vijay allowed us to have a late checkout of 5 pm. I'm sure this is ONLY because there wasn't a tenant the next day so the cleaning company can clean the following day. That is so totally generous and thoughtful of them and they are part of the reason why I would come and stay here again.

“More than we had hoped for”
Reviewed 27 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The condo was exactly as described. Just what we expected, but more than we had hoped for. The location was excellent. Across the street from a little grocery store, and only 8 minutes from the Safeway. We were happily surprised to find that there were a few condiments there. The cross-breeze is lovely with the doors open. We rarely used the fans, but were glad they were there. We appreciated the way the slotted doors between the bedrooms closed. We hope to stay there again. I guess that's the best recommendation!

“Thought of keeping this one a secret! <3”
Reviewed 26 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

INCREDIBLE!! It was my first time to Hawaii and it couldn't have been more perfect! The ideal Island, the perfect location ON the island, and the best condo experience ever! It was the best vacation my husband, my girls (13 & 10) and I have had second only to our Italy/Spain trip several years ago. The view from the balcony of the condo splits the Islands of Molokai and Lanai - and the sun set right in between them - what an event every night! Oh and the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep every night ... i think i miss that the most!

Not only was the condo perfectly situated looking out over the ocean - which, by the way was spectacular day OR night, it was located in a great area of the Island as well. The weather was fantastic - light morning drizzles and sunshine the rest of the day! We were close enough to all the amenities we wanted and far enough away from a lot of the "big" hotels with tons and tons of people.

We saw whales off our balcony and most mornings there was at least 1 giant sea turtle resting on the beach - just breathtaking!!

Kay and Vijay were wonderful. They happened to be on the island while we were there and met us upon checkin with a lovely welcome gift and fresh island pineapple and again a couple days later to check in with us and give us yet another lovely gift basket. They were wonderful to work with - very responsive and accommodating.

Definitely will return to Maui - and DEFINITELY will try to reserve with Kay and Vijay again!

“Best beachfront location on Maui!”
Reviewed 23 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Stayed two weeks in 708 with my mother and two sisters. This was our second trip to Maui and while the weather was a bit disappointing (arrived in a cold, rainy spell) we found this a great place to be in whale-watching season. Lots of whale action to view right off the lanai, and the owners were kind enough to loan us a set of binoculars. They also came to say hello soon after our arrival with a bowl of snacks and goodies, as well as helpful tips on places to eat. When the beach weather finally arrived, we really enjoyed the beach right out front, and the snorkeling was excellent too. A short walk up the street led to another beach where the sea turtles were out sunning themselves every day. We found Kahana to be an ideal base for exploring Maui. Due to the chilly weather at first, we did rent a car for a few days so we could go exploring instead of swimming, but there is a bus stop right in front of the resort and that's how we traveled most of the time. The condo kitchen is well equipped and we cooked our own meals quite often. Beds were comfortable with lots of extra linens. We also took advantage of the great barbecues by the pool area, along with the shared herb garden where we snipped the makings of a great salad dressing. The pool area has comfy loungers and there are a few loungers available out by the beach as well. Office staff were friendly and helpful when we had questions about places to go. Meals in the restaurant at the Kahana Sands resort next door were great, and their early bird (5 - 6:30) dinner specials were excellent. Really an excellent place for an excellent holiday.. People with concerns about security might not like the lack of deadbolts on the door and no safekeeping vault in the unit, but we had no concerns. It's a lovely neighbourhood and much less crowded than Kihei or Kaanapali. There is no finer view, and the unit has two lanais--a smaller one off the master bedroom. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf then enjoy your morning tea or coffee with the sight of amazing humpback whales!
