The place we stayed at, Honua Kai Resort and Spa, is wonderful. It is just 2 miles north of the main beach resort area of Kaanapali Beach and Whalers Village. It's a great location; There is a 4.5 mile beach path that starts at Honua Kai Resort and ends at the south end of Kaanapali Beach, a couple more great hiking paths/trails 15 minute drive at Kapalua Beach and Lahaina Harbor is just a 10 minute drive. There are grocery stores, shops and restaurants close by too other than Whalers Village and Lahaina.
The Honua Kai Resort has it all; several pool areas, spa, exercise room, Whalers Store, tour desk and Duke's Restaurant. You can book through the resort or from the owner of the condo unit. We booked through VRBO. Our condo was fully furnished with kitchenware, laundry room, bath with towels and hair dryer. There is a maid service if needed. There is complimentary underground parking. This was the best place I have stayed at in all my visits to Hawaii. The vacation rental price depends on the room and season. I think it will run $250 and up per night for most condos/rooms.
