This is our 9th time visiting Maui, our favorite. We drove into Ka’anapali in the worst weather ever in our experience. Flood flash warnings, and sheets of rain pelting our windshield. On our prior visits, we usually dine out on the first night. It was raining hard, and fortunately, our condo gave us a complimentary umbrella to use to to venture out. We were looking for a covered sheltered dining experience, and in Whalers Village, Monkeypod saved the day. We were surprisingly seated in 20 minutes, and this place was super busy, as most of the nearby restaurants were drenched in rain. The hostess and particularly, our waiter were exceptional on such a busy night. We sat inside and well protected from the downpour. We ordered their Mai Tai, and my husband ordered the Bulgogi Pork Tacos and I ordered the hand tossed Margherita pizza. The crust was exceptional. The tacos so good. The portion sizes are generous. The price was reasonable. The service was fantastic for such a busy night. We will definitely come back here again.

We make an annual trip to Wailea area for the MonkeyPod there every year we visit Maui. Farm to Table, craft beer, great pizzas, salads and other simple eats. Atmosphere is casual and friendly but somehow different from the others in the quality of food and service. So, we were excited to try its branch in Kaapanali, a much shorter drive for us. Alas, this is far less differentiated from the Duke’s, Hula Grill of this world which are in the same mall. There are counter seating for example at the back facing the pizza oven. Could be fun if done right. But now, nobody sits at the counter whereas the front counter with drinks operate more like a bar and is full. This is a very large space so let’s hope they work out the bugs.

We have enjoyed Monkeypod on Oahu and in Wailea so there were no surprises, the food is always good. I started with the signature mai tai with lillikoi foam. It was excellent. We had chicken wing appetizer which was very good. I had an excellent hamburger and my husband had the bulogi tacos- yummmmm! For dessert we shared the strawberry pie which is not to be missed!

Went back a couple days later for drinks. Great atmosphere overlooking the beautiful beach.

We enjoy the Monkeypod restaurants and this one doesn't fail to satisfy. The vibe is fun and hip and very one and airy - reserve on Opentable and indicate you are there for a special occasion and you will receive seating closer to the beach with beautiful sunset views. The happy hour is the best- you can basically have a full dinner off the happy hour menu. Their Monkeypox Mai tai is the best - just the honey lilikoi foam on top is worth getting the drink!

The title says it all. The food was a terrific. We sat with a perfect view of the ocean and beach. We were on the rail (as opposed to more inside) which allowed for a nice cool breeze. The servers were pleasant and helpful.
