“A Splendid Place to Stay in Hana”

The Hana Cabana is a great place to stay. We booked at the Hana Cabana to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. It was everything we were looking for. We had visited Maui a few years ago staying in Lahinia and did the day drive to Hana and decided the next time we go to Maui we wanted to stay in Hana. So in searching for a recommendation I found the Hana Cabana on TripAdvisor, read the reviews and then contacted Rebecca to confirm availability. Rebecca responded quickly, was very friendly and made the transaction very easy. She followed up with email confirmation and details about the Cabana, check-in, check-out and easy to follow directions. We booked the stay in August for a 6 night stay in January. (I recommend booking early.)

When we arrived we were greeted at Rebecca’s house and then went on to the Cabana which is located on her property which is nestled in a secluded spot on her beautiful flower farm. The cabana is very simple, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen is completely equipped and there is a gas grill on the porch (great for grilling a nice steak!). It even has a car port. There are no curtains and you don’t need any. It is very private and from inside looking out all you can see are beautiful landscaping of trees, palms, and exotic flowers. It has a wonderful front porch with a hot tub that is also a very nice feature. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the beautiful surrounding views; which include a view of the Ocean in the day time. At night it is very dark, no street lights, and on clear nights the stars in the sky are amazing. You can actually see them from the Hot tub on the porch and from laying on the bed looking out the window.

The first couple of days of our stay it rained and rained and rained. At first we were a little disappointed with the weather. However, the rain actually was a nice added bonus. The rain actually forced us to spend a couple days really “resting and relaxing” which is something we were looking for but, often have trouble doing when we travel. My wife and I liked sleeping while listening to the rain on the roof and through open windows. The hot tub is on a covered porch so we could relax in the tub, sipping an adult beverage and watch the rain. Rebecca has stocked the Cabana with a 1000 piece puzzle which my wife drug out and we spent time putting the puzzle together; something we have not done since we dated more than 25 years ago!

We did have a few days of beautiful sunshine that allowed plenty of time to explore Hana and the surrounding area. The Hana Cabana is located just a short distance from “downtown” Hana. Perfect actually, if you are looking for peace and quiet, few people and great base location to see the surrounding sites and convenient access to the couple general stores or restaurants in Hana.

We highly recommend Hana Cabana to any couple that is looking for a peaceful, relaxing Maui vacation.

“Solitude Situated at a Flower Farm”

Quiet chirping of geckos, rustling wind in the trees, the tinkling of rain on the metal roof, the ocean waves crashing on the shore from far away, the startling thud of a giant avocado as it smacks against the ground! This darling beautifully situated cottage located in the middle of a flower farm is the prefect place to stay if you seek quiet and comfortable relaxation. The owners are wonderful letting us share in the bounty of their farm. Guacamole for dinner from an avocado next to the cottage- perfection with a bag of Hawaiian chips! Hot tub on the deck that we used twice a day, located near beautiful spots to hike at the end of the Hana Highway, get up early in the morning and visit before everyone else gets there. Photographers paradise!

“Enchanted Paradise”
Reviewed 22 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This place is magical! If you are looking for an incredibly laid back Hawaiin jungle-safarian experience, this place will blow your mind. It's a one of a kind experience. The hosts are a class act. Nothing but first class chillness. The Hana Cabana had the most spectacular views of stars at night. Unreal!

“Absolutely nails the Hana experience! Highlight of my trip.”

I loved this place. I don't think I've every ranked a lodging option as "excellent" before but I really was impressed by this place. It's about 8 min. before you get to the actual town of Hana and I think it's a far better option because it nails the "off the grid" feeling you may be looking for in Hana. It's in the middle of a manicured section of jungle so you see tons of birds, fruits, & flowers and you also do have a long distance view of the ocean. Where else could you say you could see all of that from your private hot tub?!? The house was quaint but provided you with the essentials. Also the gas grill came in handy since the dinner options in Hana are poor. The bed was super comfy. You will see some geckos in the house, they never bothered us at all but I guess some people wouldn't like it, to be honest I thought they were a plus since they eat mosquitos. Beach towels were provided which was nice because the sand at Hamoa beach was really sticky and re-packing our own towels would have gotten messy if we had to use them. Lastly, if you have low riding rental car (like I did) take it very slow, I did bottom out pretty badly 2 times on my first trip in.

“Fantastic! Great location close to great stuff in Hana.”

Not far from "town". Easy to find. Very clean. And quiet. Owner extremely nice and helpful. Made suggestions for our stay which we followed. A day at the so-called Seven Sacred Pools/Oheo Gulch is FANTASTIC!. (Not "sacred" and many more than seven!). Had been too rainy to swim. We took the two mile hike hike to the falls. Well worth the hike! Hamia beach is great. Not to be missed! Rated one of the best beaches in the world. If you are lucky you might actully see a rare (endangered) monk seal. Nice kitcen in unit. Do your shopping BEFORE you come to Hana. Only two stores and prices a little high. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will gladly return.
