We spent two days in Hana (wish it had been more!) and stayed at the Hana Kai Maui. It's a condo-tel (condos that are rented as hotel rooms when the people who own them aren't there, and and because it's run like a hotel, it includes maid service, has a front desk, etc....YEA!). We found the location very convenient to town, the beaches, Haleakala, etc. It was so peaceful and quiet. Our room was very clean and because we cooked our breakfast every morning, we really appreciated the well-appointed kitchen, especially given how small it was. My only complaint was that I wish they didn't charge an additional per-person charge after the first two people. That really starts to add up when you have two kids. However, this policy seems to be pretty standard in Hana. This was a nice way to start our trip around Maui.

Room tip: Second floor corner unit is great (207).

very nice hotel. rooms was clean and exactly as shown in the photos. stayed in room 107. It was so peaceful sleeping to the sound of the ocean and birds. The staff was very pleasant. Would highly recomend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Hana. There is no a/c but it was fine. they did have a fan but we did not need it in march. there was a nice breeze at night. You get a nice view of the bay from the patio. The beach is not really sand but more small black rocks. It was nice being able to take the drive from kaanapali without rushing or leaving early. We saw all the sights past hana the next morning . we really had no crowds anywhere because of this and no traffic on the back side.

We wanted to stay in Hana a couple day and hike the nearby National Park. Hana Kai was right for our budget (Hotel Hana Maui - way to expensive) and the location from the photos looked ideal. The location is also ideal for the tsunami wave to hit the bay. Yes, we were there for the tsunami. At 9pm the manager called to forewarn us. At 10pm the sirens sounded. We packed up, but was greatful for her call. The one bedroom apartment was very nice. We were kind of worried when read the other reviews. But was nicely surprised when we openned the door. Clean, fresh smelling and fantastic views. We even spotted a whale or two while eating dinner on our lanai. The bathroom was newly tiled, new mattress, and everything was very clean. The staff was overly friendly and very helpful. The windows had all new screens and were huge to let in ocean breezes and lots of light. It was very comfortable sleeping weather with the windows just partially open. Plenty of places to sit and read, and the table had 4 chairs. The kitchen was amply supplied and no bugs. We would stay here again with no worries. The only problem was when other people walked their rolling suitcases on the wood decking it was loud, but we were asleep pretty early (trying to stay on CST).

Second time to Maui and first time staying in Hana. We wanted to see more in the Hana area and glad we chose this place. The office staff was very accomodating especially after we had a noisy upstairs neighbor the first nite. The condo was stocked (not with food but two stores near by) well maintained and cleaned every day. Thank you for a wonderful experience and a beautiful view. My husband didn't even miss the AC & TV!!

This was our second time to Hana, but our first experience staying at the Hana Kai. We rented unit 206 and it looked exactly like the pictures on the website. Shayla, the owner was very helpful during the reservation process and very accommodating. The unit is very modern with beautiful granite countertops in the kitchen. I would recommend checking into your unit prior to visitng the grocery store due to the unit being pretty well stocked with items left by other visitors (condiments, etc). You may not need to buy so many items. We bought bottled water, but there was already a brita water filter pitcher ready to use. The living room has a pull out sleeper futon/couch. There is no TV in the unit, but they do provide a portable DVD player. The Lanai has a gorgeous view and a very comfy chair to lounge in as well as a nice table for dining. The one bathroom was nice and roomy with a very cool basalt (?) sink. There were also beach necessities provided in the unit such as chairs and boogie boards, and coolers. The upstairs loft is very nice and has a sleep number King size bed. Hana Kai is located on a nice street close to town. My husband, myself and our 6-year old stayed in this unit which worked fine. However, it was so quiet and peaceful I felt like our son may have been a bit too loud at times, as we never heard a peep out of any other guests. I would highly recommened this unit especially for a romatic getaway. The way they have the lighting set up in this unit adds to the romance of it. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Hana. Having a great condo to come back to at the end of our day was wonderful!!
