I loved that this hotel is in the heart of a "big" town on Kauai, yet it was quiet and set far back from the highway, so it was very peaceful. Very close to many restaurants, and not just touristy ones. It's not easily walkable, though because the highway does not have sidewalks in most areas. Better to drive, even if the restaurants are close.
The hotel is directly on the beach, which in March was very, very lightly populated. It's not a beach with expansive sand, but it was beautiful anyway. On the beach at sunrise, the hotel has a Hawaiian mom, dad, and daughter perform a hula and chanting. Very cool.
We were pleased to have asked for a garden view room (to save money), but from our small lanai, could easily see a large swath of ocean and beach. I saw a review on TripAdvisor where someone complained about the balconies being all broken, but ours was just fine. Everything was in good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and clean, comfortable beds. All in all, would stay again!More
