Bar Acuda continues its excellent tradition of fine tapas. We had the beet salad with red and golden beets, tasty greens and tangy dressing. Then the honeycomb was the best dish. Fuji apples sliced very thin with a great goat cheese and a tad of honeycomb. The bruschetta was unique. A whole tomato swimming in a vinegar dressing. You have to take the tomato out to cut it up and put in on the three crisp toasts. It was worth the work. Finally the roast lentils with a cruton crust. My wife liked this the best. Only four vegan dishes on the menu. Wines were good but pricey.

We popped in here later on a Friday night and were bummed to see reservations were required and could be booked between 3-5pm. Luckily, we asked the hostess about making a reservation and someone had just cancelled so we got right in.
Server was awesome (Amanda, that's you).
Cocktails were strong. We only needed one each, which never happens. Good flavor.
We started with the goat cheese plate (which was really good) and a salad. In general, these were nice but not OMG-knock-my-socks-off. That was the scallops. They were delicious! Best scallop and mash ever. The lamb riblets were also really tasty. Bread and butter was nice. Ganache cake reminds me of the Trader Joe's frozen one (which we love).
We left Bar Akuda with our minds made up to come back again so we could sample more goodness (and eat more of those scallops). Unfortunately, no scallops available the next time we visited. Sangria was also out. Amanda recommended the substitute rigatoni dish with pork, cinnamon, and apples, which did not disappoint. I can still conjure up that unique taste as I write this. That was a highlight. The banderillas had a great flavor but the meat was a little tough. Pineapple crisp was kind of equivalent to a hot apple bake. Great ice cream.
We were told by the hostess that there's a table of regulars who eat at Bar Akuda every Friday night for XX number of years. If we lived in Hanalei area, I think we'd be weekly Bar Akuda eaters as well.

Visited the Bar Acuda last night, did not have reservation. Two seats at the bar opened up soon after we arrived so we settled in for a most interesting mix of Tapas and drinks.
Bartender fixed up a tasty lilikoi martini for my girlfriend. We had burrata, mahi mahi & a delicious arugula salad. All of these had delicious sauces/dressings. To top it off we had to try one of their amazing desserts. We settled on the chocolate cake with fresh mint ice cream. Wow. I highly recommend this restaurant. The two bartenders couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. It was a pleasurable experience from our drinks to the dessert.

This was a special dinner for my husband's birthday tonight. It was fantastic! We had a special of the day quail mix green and nut salad followed by tasty roasted vegetables in a curry sauce, then melt in your mouth slow cooked pork belly with mashed potatoes, lamb chops and pot de creme with a macaroon and whipped cream. Excellent atmosphere, pacing of food, service and food! Highly recommended!

We consider a visit to Bar Acuda an essential part of our Kauai experience - and for good reason. They serve reliably good food, tapas style. So you really can sample lots of different options without feeling too guilty.

Most recently, they added a burrata and beat combo with grilled bread that was so good. I just wish beets were a staple year-round. But the Honeycomb apple/Humbolt Fog cheese tapas is also very good and usually available no matter the season.
