I came to the Big Island to catch up with some friends who were in Waikoloa for a medical meeting and needed a more cost effective place to stay than the big Waikoloa hotels. My main criteria besides price was that it be clean and quiet and this rental fit the bill.
The room is in a residential neighborhood in Waikoloa Village about 8 miles inland from the beach. The house is a mile and a half from the village center where there is a grocery store and some restaurants and shops.
You are sharing the house with the owner, 2 friendly dogs and 2 equally friendly cats. Common sense rules like pick up after yourself and don't leave dirty dishes in the sink apply. There is a big screen TV with cable and Netflix in the living room. There is a private bath but it may be shared if a second room in the house is rented out. Bedding and towels were first rate.

The Host Debbie made our stay so welcoming, as she gave us information on local hot spots, beaches, directions, hiking. Her home is very comfortable, clean, and she gave us enough space, and when we asked for info she was very helpful. Amenities were very high quality, i.e. bed, bed sheets, towels, soap, internet access. Pretty, residential neighborhood. It was our first night in Hawaii after traveling 24 hours, so it was good to rest there. I didn't know exactly where it was located when we booked it in relation to the beaches and Waimea, but then realized it is centrally located between those places, and good starting point for us to then go to Waipio Valley.
