We stayed here recently a few of us were in the timeshare and a few of us were in the hotel. The timeshare moving into the property cheapened the entire thing. It went from feeling high end to have endless rules. You had to have towel cards to prove you wont steal towels. The staff at the pool walked around enforcing different rules all day. The front desk staff was rude. One of the things I cannot understand is why check in time is the same as the hotel, but check out is two hours earlier. A 10AM check out is way to early for a resort property.

The rooms were nice and recently re-done which made the experience better. The hotel could be a really nice beach front luxury property but the continued focus on selling you a timeshare cheapens the entire experience.

The resort is absolutely beautiful and the people are super nice and accommodating. One side of the resort is hotel and the other side is timeshare ownership. The Time share rooms are large and accommodating but there is no stove top cooktop but there is a microwave, full refrigerator, dishes ,
Silverware, toaster, and a rice cooker. The one restaurant has excellent food and signature drinks.
The shopping center is across the street and easy walk to numerous restaurants and shops. There also is a grocery store nearby.
Be sure to attend the 8:30 AM meeting with Asia, the concierge, gives an excellent overview of how to tour the island. I can’t say enough about Asia’s ability to direct you in any activity that you choose . The sunsets at the Marriott are fabulous along with the beaches that offer whale watching and snorkeling trips for a fee.

Been coming to Hawaii every year for 30 + years - finally got back to “the big island” . Stayed in two bedroom villa with family - in Vacation club villa. Ocean front ground floor.
Plus +++. Nice new villas, good breakfast buffet, good service, friendly service, very nice property overall. Been to a thousand luaus - this one was actually worth the money - pay the extra $30/person for premier seating. Went to sales presentation in exchange for Luau tickets professionally done - no high pressure. Many new things to do and see on the Island - the night Manta Ray “Fair Winds” Trip is a MUST due - our family of 6 went - well worth it. We will be coming back to the Marriott Waikoloa Ocean Club sometime in the future.
We have been to every Vacation club property in Hawaii - some of them as many as 6 times. We are chairman’s club / lifetime platinum rewards folks traveling with adults and with kids/ master padi scuba divers - lovers of Hawaii.

Here is our ratings
Adults only. #1 Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina Tower, #2 Kauai Lagoons, #3 Ko’Olina, #4 Waikoloa
Families with kids. #1 Maui, #2 Ko’Olina, #3 Waikoloa
Quality of villas. #1 Kauai Lagoons, #2 Maui new towers, #3 Ko’Olina
Best dinning. Maui - Whalers Village, Lahaina, Mama’s Fish House

My wife and I stayed here for four nights over the new year period. This is another Vacation Club property. So quite spacious rooms, living/dining room plus separate bedroom. Small balcony off each the bedroom and living room. We were on the 6th floor and had good pool views.

Good location in a new resort area, Hilton and others also have resort and vacation club type accommodation here. The hotel is well situated for the Kings Shopping Mall and Queens Market place. We are Marriott Vacation Club members, my only complaint was the hard sell for more points as soon as we arrived.

Very friendly staff, nice rooms, lots of amenities for families and kids. Surprisingly few chairs around pool area - packed by 9:30 + only three shade umbrellas unless you want to pay extra for a cabana. Lots of folks want shade - this resort needs more options for shade! Comfy two seater cabanas but only out at beach area, not around pool. The Hilton pool area is much better with more cabanas and shade options.
