We stayed in Volcano one evening of our trip to the Big Island. We had a large standard room on the third floor, and there was absolutely no one next to us which was great. Next closest guest was across the hallway. The room was spacious and beautiful inside. The queen size bed was not very comfortable, it was pretty worn out. The Volcano Inn is in very close proximity to Volcano National Park, which was a huge plus. Breakfast is not included, but available if wanted. This was not a huge deal because we ate at a great breakfast place in Volcano. We were able to get in the jacuzzi in the evening, which was pleasant. The Inn is located very close to the highway, so one downfall is that it is very noisy. This place is great for a one night stay.

Quite close to the highway so you'll hear the sounds from the passing car at night. Wall is paper thin. The other guest next door open the TV at midnight 12am and disturb us a lot. I went to his room to ask him lower the sounds but unless he set the mute, we can hear the TV since the wall will shake with the sounds.

I stay at other places at Volcano and it's much quieter, so try to find others instead of Volcano Inn.

I'm not usually one to use B&B places for overnight stays - this is also not really a B&B since the room I got had a great bedroom with kitchinette included and a very functional bathroom. The room was located a very short drive a couple streets away from the main Office (wasn't expecting this).
The room was great with a large window pain that overlooked palms and vegeation.
There was cable tv and internet, and ample parking in front of the rooms (the rooms are divided between separate cabins with a very charming gravel walkway that is lit up by small lamps at night).
There are two keys - one for the room, and the other for the power to power up the room (when you leave and turn off the power, the fridge stays on,,,). Great place to stay if you want to explore the many amazing hikes of volcano landscapes and craters (most tourist I do not think realize that you need to stay close to the park for 2 to 3 nights to really be able to appreciate what this park has to offer...).
There are a few great restaurants and general stores (with gas) a 5 minute drive aways. The Thai restaurant served great food as did a pizza place (show up early or all table will be gone!). Volcano Inn will provide an overview of restaurants and where they are located (basically on the same street right after each other.)

We stayed here for one night while touring the national park. Not in the main building, but across the highway in their other rooms. These are really lovely, set back in the forest, spacious, well equipped with wifi. Water is heated by solar panels and every attempt is made to make them eco-conscious. At both locations there is a hot tub hidden away amongst the forest. Ron, the owner is a warm and inviting host with some great views on life - engage him in a conversation about American politics if you get a chance, well worth listening to. We went out to the volcano at night and missed him and his brother (who is a park ranger) who came to call offering to take us to the crater rim to see the activity. Volcano itself is a great little village with good eating options. I whole heatedly reccomend a stay with Ron and his team. Great location and excellent rooms.

Volcano Inn is a great place to stay and visit the National Park. The corner room was clean and set up nicely. Our room was set apart from the hotel but we met and talked to another visiting family. Hot tub was a nice touch on a cool evening.
