We always enjoy a visit to Volcano Garden Arts when staying on the Big Island and this year was no exception. Ira Ono, the owner, was as gracious as ever and we had a great time discussing local happenings and his upcoming family visit to the mainland while he served us homemade iced tea from the attached restaurant. Lots of unique local arts available, some of which is very good and quite reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying in or around Volcano.

Our tour group stopped in here for coffee on our way to see the volcano and boy were we glad we did. This is a very unique and beautiful spot. There is some very interesting artwork to take in and the items in the gift shop are very nice. We picked up some amazing soap and ear rings. The coffee was great too. Just the thing to get you ready for the volcano. The owner, Ira, is a delight, and was able to inform us on some of the products and kept us safe cruise people. He was right, they weren't that scary.

This gallery and shop has many well-chosen items across many price ranges and interests, from local artists. You son't see them in your average gift shop.

Fine art photography and paintings; ceramics. We bought a painting here on our last visit a few years ago that still brings us joy every morning.

There is a wide range decorative and household items -- garden ornaments, mugs and plates, tikis, coasters, table linens, etc.

The jewelry and accessories are always intriguing. The jewelry is cool. This time, I saw ceramic or wood tiki pendants; needed jewelry of all kinds; silver. Lots of scarves and wraps, including a rather unique ribbon scarf in a wide assortment of colors. Purses and other accessories.

Some gourmet ideas, e.g. exotic salads and condiments.

Greeting cards; etc. and etc.

This would be my go-to place for gifts if I lived in the area. Instead, I will cart some home. however, they will ship anything for the basic cost of the shipping.

There is also a cafe for lunch and later, in shaded outdoor areas. Lovely! the menu is heavy on vegetarian dishes. They also prepare things to take out for later if you have that option. They day I was there, lasagne was non the menu.

So: this is a must stop for unique items and art if you are in the area. consider a stop for lunch.
