It was our second time at Hale Makamae and it felt like we were home. Petra's breakfast including fresh fruit and homemade French toast, quiche, and her advice and discussions on where to go that day is priceless. We took the opportunity to buy fresh Ahi and cook dinner a couple times in our fully equiped kitchen. We also love the little town of Pahoa, restaurants and people are great! And Petra's husband John is informative as well on many island subjects:) Next time we are on the Big Island we look forward to coming home again! Thank you again Petra, you and your family have fun on your upcoming, well deserved vacation! Love, Julie and Pat

We have stayed here on 2 different occasions, It was our first experience staying in a B&B and would not stay in another hotel if we had a choice like this. This B&B has it all... Great rooms (very comfortable and spacious), beautiful grounds and hospitality plus... It is the place to stay on the easr side of the BIg Island!

Room tip: The garden & lanai suites were great because they had kitchens.

We stayed 3 nights in the Garden Suite and found the suite to be spacious and comfortable. A real treat to find a king sized bed! The breakfasts were bountiful and delicious (especially the yummy banana pancakes!) with fresh local fruit, some picked from the garden, every day. Petra was great spending time with us, recommending places to see and things to do. We enjoyed our stay immensely and even liked the symphony by the tree frogs at night! Thanks again for making our stay memorable. PS. Thanks for lending me the mosquito repellant!

We have stayed at all 3 of the suites on two separate trips, and they all had their own great touch. Super comfortable and the ones with kitchens were well stocked with dishes etc. Over-all it is the best of the best for everything from the warm hospitality, great breakfast, beautiful ground. You get a wonderful "aloha feeling" while you are here. We highly reccommend it.

Room tip: They are all great! Wonderful view from the Lanai Suite.
