We stayed here with our travel trailer for 7 nights. During the days we would drive up to the Beartooth Highway and take a hike. It was very quiet and the people were very nice. Wifi is available at the store. RV sites are full hookups or electric/water. There are some tent sites. Drove from Red Lodge around the Beartooth Highway and up the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. When we left we got on the Beartooth and went into Cook City and then through Yellowstone coming out at Gardner.

Under new management the restaurant is closed (I think permanently), however the RV sites offer full or partial hookups. There is a convenience store on-site. The staff are incredible friendly and accommodating, which is why I give it such a great review.

The RV sites are pretty level, on gravel type bases. The partial hookup sites offer water and power (no severe) and are less expensive than the full hook up sites.

There is bathrooms and showers available, and a guest laundry was being installed while we were there.

If you are needing a friendly place to put your RV while exploring along Beartooth Hwy, or Shoshone Natl. Forest, or trip into Cody, WY, this is a convenient stop. Place has a general store, fuel, a large restaurant and RV sites with 30A & water, waste dump on site.

Say hi to the friendly owners Carol & Richard Lunger.

We spent three days horse camping in the Beartooth country and on our way back to Cody we stopped at Painters Outpost for lunch. There were three choice on the menu and two were hamburgers! So I had the cheeseburger and fries and while it was hot it was typical fare and nothing special. Unfortunately the coke machine was flat and that sort of burst my bubble on the place since it was a hot day. Nonetheless Painters is a great place to stop and eat, in fact the only one around in any direction. The beautiful wooden interior and open seating are nice, as is the mini museum and store. You can get anything from 40% deet to fishing lures! A trip to the store resulted in a nice ice cream treat after lunch! Again pretty simple, but then everything in Wyoming should be!
