I’ve been taking the kids to this for the last seven or eight years every summer. It’s a good clean-cut fun lighthearted show. They get the crowd involved, they sell candy and cheap beer, it’s fun to watch, and the kids can take home a chunk of wood. The jokes stay the same, but the lumberjacks change every couple of years so it’s fun to watch it for that reason. We’re going back this June and very much looking forward to it.

This reasonably priced hour and half show was an excellent way to spend some time on a late summer day. The young lumberjacks were talented and personable, and the narration was informative and humorous. The bleachers are close to the action and the crowd participation is fun.

The show is a good demonstration of lumberjack skills that is entertaining for all ages. Everyone in my party ranging in age from 6 to 75 enjoyed the performance. My only warning is that the bleachers are pretty rickety. There are no handrails on the 2 middle stairways, only on the ends. They are widely spaced and the seats are just boards with no back support. There are large gaps between rows that belongings or small children could fall through. I recommend decent shoes. If climbing is an issue sit in the front row.

This show was a great wholesome family experience. It was made up of an MC and four lumberjack guys that were goofy but really skilled athletes that cut wood with saws, axes, and chainsaws. The guys also race-climbed 60 foot posts, ran five wet logs in the water, and battled in log rolling and jousted from canoes. The MC connected all the events together with great explanations and history of logging in the Northwoods peppered in. Throughout the show the MC and guys had the silliest banter together that cracked up the audience. After the show they greeted the fans and autographed small hunks of leftover wood. Photos of that evening will definitely have their own full page in our Summer of '17 photo album.

To be honest, I was wary at the prospect of spending so much money on a show clearly marketed for tourists. But it ended up being a highlight of our stay in the Northwoods. I agree with previous reviewers--everyone should experience the show at least once. Our young daughter was completely engaged by the crowd noise and participation. Our teenage boys were big fans of the slapstick humor and the seemingly superhuman feats of the lumberjacks. They even waited in line to have lumber scraps signed.

A wood awning covers about a third of the seats and will protect you from rain or sun. If you want to be closer to the action, you'll be exposed to the elements. Pack accordingly. There are concessions available (even cans of beer), but prices are steep. On our visit we waited in line a long time to purchase tickets because the credit card machine was finicky. I'm not sure if this was an unusual circumstance or a regular occurence. Either way, I recommend purchasing tickets online if you can. You'll be able to walk right to your seats.
