The service we received at The Port Hotel was excellent and the room was just what we needed - fireplace, great bed, and wonderful shower water system. The food was also very good. We hope to stay here again!

Room Tip: Talk to the owner! Room 305 was excellent.

We stayed one night recently at the Port Hotel,inPort Wasington, WI.
Prompted by a Group On certificate I called for a reservation. Most courteous and friendly and had to call back and change the reservation date - no problem.
Upon arrival, found the reservation instructions helpful - there is no elevator service!
But the stairs worked well - greeted by the owner who showed me all the quirks of the room (good quirks!) Fireplace, good TV, great furnishings, like new bathroom and showers. Plus friendly directions to dining and the town.
Excellent breakfast brought to the room the next morning.

Room Tip: Try for an exterior view room - plan ahead for carryig stuff upstairs.

There are many positives about the Port Hotel: the rooms are spacious, there was a fireplace, the bathroom is huge, there is a desk and there is a dedicated parking lot. The hotel is in a great location and the in-room breakfast was delicious. There were many well-located electrical outlets.
Here's why I could not give 4 stars: the stairs are very steep and there are 20 of them. The shower was like being in a car wash and it was difficult to control the temperature - way too complex, especially if you are tight on time. After check in, we were told the restaurant was serving only a prix fixe menu; the menu on the website was not available. Try as we might, there was no way to turn off the lights without getting out of bed.
Not sure if we would return.

If charming old world elegance appeals to you, this is the place to stay! The attention to detail appears effortless, and our stay was warm & very comfortable. The onsite bar & restaurant was outstanding. The food is very good, and the service is provided with a smile. Do not be in a hurry, though, or this place will be lost on you.

We booked here for Memorial Day weekend. Although I have some resistance to book at place without a personal recommendation, we had a very pleasant surprise. Friendly staff, working there across years, place is very well cared, large rooms, very quiet and cozy. Great for summer and winter too, as the rooms have fireplaces and a jacuzzi - not all, check at reservation.
And for sure don't miss the Sunday brunch - you will definitely love it - variety and quality of the food! And prices - well, appropriate to the high quality without being over! Go for!
