We booked here for Memorial Day weekend. Although I have some resistance to book at place without a personal recommendation, we had a very pleasant surprise. Friendly staff, working there across years, place is very well cared, large rooms, very quiet and cozy. Great for summer and winter too, as the rooms have fireplaces and a jacuzzi - not all, check at reservation.
And for sure don't miss the Sunday brunch - you will definitely love it - variety and quality of the food! And prices - well, appropriate to the high quality without being over! Go for!

We go there at least once a month. Never disappointed. GREAT service. ALL the help is the BEST. Joe the owner is #1. Only 1/2 hour from Milwaukee. I always get the VEAL. Wife switches food ALL good. WE have been going there for over 30 years

Room Tip: They are ALL good

For only a few dollars more than the chain hotel down the street, you get a room with real personality in a building that dates from 1902. Lovely furniture, a working fireplace, turndown service, a wet bar, and a shower that will make you want to move in and stay.

Historic DOES have its drawbacks, in that the building is not handicap accessible (lots of stairs) and it's probably better for adults than children. But the staff was wonderful. helpful in every way. The room service breakfast was fantastic. Definitely coming back.

We enjoy eating at the Port Hotel with it's old features and good food. We had prime rib, and maple glazed steak, both good. The waitress was friendly and helpful. It's probably the best in town as former eating places are being torn down and converted to condos.

Room Tip: Choose the water side.

The establishment is quite nostalgic-my wife tried inquiring with the owner about the date of the hotel and how long it has been in existence; however, the owner was more worried about how are kids were behaving around the "older/established" group of regulars and was not interested in sharing the hotel's history with us. The food was sub-par and quite expensive (2 adult buffets, 2 kids buffets-$81). Our kids are 2 and 4 and were pretty well-behaved; however, when the owner was going to seat an elderly couple near us, she suggested maybe they go into the adjacent room, since we had small children at our table (they weren't even making a sound). My 4-year-old son was near the dessert table, and the owner came by and told him he wasn't allowed to be near that table and to go away-like he was going to touch something. If you have small children, I would highly recommend to go anywhere but this place. We have visited Port Washington restaurants several times, but we will never return to this venue due to the unprofessional attitude of the owner and the lack of caring for customers with children. This venue is clearly set up for the established clientele who have been coming here for years. My wife and I felt like there should be a sign hanging when you walk in "please no small children." We would have never wasted our time and money on this establishment.
