Description: It was 1974 when our country had its first gas crisis. The price of gasoline was skyrocketing, gas stations were closing nationwide, and carmakers began exploring how to develop cars that got better mileage. But for George "Jig" Warren III and Gary "Moe" Meszaros, it wasn't about better mileage or for that matter even obeying the new 55 M.P.H speed limit. It was about finding a home to preserve the culture of those old gas stations and high-powered muscle cars. So was born Quaker Steak & Lube(R), a "Cook Your Own Steak" restaurant that gave old muscle cars a permanent home, which included a 1936 Chevrolet, frozen in time on the original hydraulic grease rack. It is from these beginnings that the Quaker Steak & Lube(R) family of restaurants began. Today, "The Lube(R)" serves over 80 million wings annually, has bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of "Best Wings USA," and has hundreds of local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes. Over 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada, "The Lube(R)" is still rescuing muscle cars, vintage cars, trucks and a vast selection of custom and antique motorcycles, giving them good homes hanging from the walls and ceilings in each restaurant.

Got a $50 gift card and had two coupons for buy one get one. First meal was pulled pork sandwich, a 3 oz. blob of what looked like semi-digested meat that has been heated on the flat top (dry pattie), an okay burger, two decent orders of fries.

Dinner #2 both try ribs. While wait staff is friendly, they also appear to be the young clueless types (don't know the food or beers... Etc.). Husband gets bbq, I get thai chili. They come and are exactly the same. Waitress insists mine are correctly Thai style chili. Nope. Mgr. appears, unsolicited and without my making a fuss so that was good, and agrees they are the wrong ribs. Sends a new plate out, these ribs are definitely OLD and kind of off, but they are Thai.

Dinner #3, both try their specialty, AYCE wings. Lots of sauce options but they are all basically built off the same two or three overly sweet bases. Nothing interesting or inspired. Wings are okay, but later that night... We both end up with diarrhea for a couple of days and we are pretty sure the wings were the cause. Upon leaving the restaurant, we are SO unimpressed that we give our free meal coupon and remaining gift card balance to strangers just so we don't have to go back. In-laws like it though and they are always packed. Go figure. We much prefer our local options to this chain.
