Ionian Breeze is a real find. The local area is quiet and very traditional, with many stone cottages nearby, but near to a great pebbly beach, Afales just 10 minutes down (an at times steep) pleasant walk along a well made quiet road. There is great restaurant, Yefuri just 10 minutes walk away up a slight hill serving a mixture of traditional and contemporary food (we loved it and ate there 3 times). The lovely village of Frikes with its harbour is also only 25 minutes walk down a well made road. The nearby larger villages of Stavros and Kioni are also only 5-10 minutes by car. The nearest ATM was in Stavros.
There are great walks all around this area of Ithaca, including the walk up to the enchanting village of Exogi, which goes past the Yefuri and then renowned archaeological site of Homers School. The wonderful beach and fishing harbour of Polis are just 10-15 minutes by car - the beach manager there is a star!
The Ionnian Breeze accommodation was lovely. The views across to Lefkas where wonderful from the house and the outside seating area, and great to enjoy with a G&T whilst in the well maintained hot tub! Every care had been taken by the owner, Christina to provide everything we could wish for. The design of the house and rooms was a delight. The style is contemporary but with many traditional flourishes and all very welcoming and comfortable. A real home from home! There is no air conditioning but we found that during our stay the 'breeze' made up for this and Christina had fans ready should we need them. We were also amply protected by the mozzy machines and four poster bed style nets romantically draped over the bed.
The real star of this trip though was Christina, who was simply a superb host to us during our stay. Each day we were supplied with fresh bread, Illy coffee for the supplied machine, fruit and vegetables from Christina's garden, homemade jam, local honey, the list could go on. Christina was sensitive to our needs and privacy but when we wished provided us with all the inside information on places to go and things to do on this wonderful island that we would be unlikely to find ourselves, including spending a lovely lunchtime chatting with Christina in a traditional Kafenion near Kioni.
We thank Christina for welcoming us to her holiday house. We will be back in Ithaca soon for sure!
The house is in a lovely village location with gorgeous views of the sea. It is a beautifully appointed house with all the equipment and facilities you need for a holiday. It is close to beaches and tavernas set in very pretty villages. The hot tub is great fun. What could be better than a glass of wine overlooking the sea.
Christina, the owner, is a wonderful host. She speaks perfect English, is very friendly and will help with any queries you may have.
There are plenty of interesting places to visit in the area.
I look forward to staying there again.
