Where do I begin? Carson Park has something of interest to everyone from the historic baseball stadium, where Hank Aaron began his legendary baseball career with the Eau Claire Bears, to the Logging Museum, the Chippewa Valley Museum, the mini train ride, the playground and picnic grounds and finally the walking/ driving/ biking path which surrounds the park. Carson Park is surrounded by Half Moon Lake. One of the two lower sections, Braun's Bay, is great for birdwatching, fishing and to launch boats-either non-motorized or those with motors. The second lower section has a picnic area and small playground. The upper portion of Carson Park has the baseball stadium, a football stadium, tennis courts, museums, a large, updated playground, many picnic areas and pavilions, roads and trails to walk. Carson Park is home to the Eau Claire Express and the Eau Claire Cavaliers baseball team and the Eau Claire Crush football team. There are various events held at Carson Park throughout the year such as the international chainsaw competition where chainsaw artists sculpture their creations which are later auctioned to the public. I live in Eau Claire and love going to Carson Park, either by myself or with my family and friends.

We like to grab a quick to-go lunch and find a shady place to park and eat. Our grandson really enjoyed the playground equipment areas when he was younger, now fishing is his favorite activity.

They love the playground equipment and get to meet new kids, as well as burn off a lot of energy. We especially loved the train ride although it ended way too soon!

Carson Park is a beautiful place to visit. If you want to drive through the park the trees are gorgeous. There are trails, museums, and playground equipment as well as the sports fields. Many entertaining festival-type activities are scheduled year-round. The fireworks are awesome and can be seen from outside the park as well as inside. The end of August there is a food and craft festival that offers free entertainment as well as great food and a variety of wonderful craft items. Small price for getting in, and bus stops around town to get to the park as vendors use the parking lot for stands and their own parking. There is a contest for those that carve items out of large tree chunks that will amaze you. Eau Claire has local semi-pro baseball and football teams that offer great games to attend. Hank Aaron got his start in Eau Claire and his bust is something you don't want to miss outside the ball park. A book has also been written about his life and highlights his time in Eau Claire. High school homecoming parades are held in the park. There are outdoor shelters for family gatherings and the playground has just been renovated. A new entrance has been added to the park and allows passage under it for boats and plenty of places for fishermen to enjoy at both entrances to the park. A huge Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox, welcome you into the museum area. Restrooms are also available. A wonderfully relaxing visit regardless of your age whether you stop to look around or just drive through. Just one of the many places you will see the pride Eau Claire puts into its community..

I grew up here in EC from 5th grade in 1995. I remember the big steel rocket ship before they took it away. While it is still a great place to take a break during the work day, go to sports event, watch the 4th of July fireworks, and have marathon events go through...it seems like more and more attention (as well as "ownership") is being drawn elsewhere. Sadly, this means that as fewer events are held at Carson and less is done to motivate people to go to this wonderful park, the less need there is for it. I do hope that it remains far into the future and is not privatized or ONLY used for certain events. Keep it a public park and encourage the public's use and support of it!
