I went here with a fairly large group, not expecting much, considering the exterior of the building (paint peeling in places and generally tired looking). To say that I was pleasantly surprised inside is a big understatement. The cafe/tea house is decorated from front to back and top to bottom with Victorian-style furniture, dishes, and memorabilia. Beautiful can’t begin to describe the interior.
We were there for high tea, and weren’t disappointed. Our table of six chose three flavors of tea to start. Then our “tea lunch” was served, consisting of home-made scones with jam and clotted cream and lemon curd, a salad, and the standard high tea fare: cucumber sandwiches, curried chicken salad and tuna salad and egg salad sandwiches, chocolate bars, lemon bars, cream puffs, chocolate covered strawberries, and fresh grapes. Everything was delicious, especially the curried chicken salad. And we had leftovers.
I would go back in a heartbeat. But we are only here in Tacoma for a visit so it may be a while. I would recommend the Olive Branch Cafe and Tea House to anyone looking for good food and a great time.

Our Book Club arranged to meet for lunch at Olive Garden. What a delightful surprise! We had live music played on a grand piano by the musician of the former Pizza & Pipes. The sandwiches and soup were delicious. Those who chose tea got to go to the special Tea Cupboard for wonderful choices. Such a fun way to spend lunch with friends or family.

If the sheen and rush of fast-food places gets you down, take a look here. This place is a refuge from the buzz. Down-home food, very personal service and fair prices make this place a destination for that quiet conversation or just plain opportunity to enjoy some uninterrupted time with someone special.

For a retirement surprise I brought four ladies from Olympia to enjoy lunch and to give them a personalized thank you as coworkers. Lunch was delightful, delicious and dangerous (for we couldn’t eat it all)! Salads were fresh crisp and amazing with flavor (pesto Chicken salad is my new favorite!!) tomato and salmon chowder just wonderful and Ruben and French dip outstanding as usual! Lunch is my favorite here at OBC. Tea selections are always go with every sort of tastes. I prefer Caramel rose. And to sing along with piano was extra memorable for them. Thank you for being here in Tacoma!

This is a quaint establishment with a down home feel. Their decorating is unique and the kids' table seating area is adorable for their tea parties. They have a large variety of tea blends to choose from. The variety of tasting for appetizers and desserts were very good. The gluten-free employees stated their food was good too.
I've been here for lunch too and their sandwiches are yummy. The customer service is great and there is a pianist for the ambiance.
