“Great area for wine tasting”

Prosser Vintner s Village

Vintner's Village is home to a number of tasting rooms and/or wineries in a compact area, making for a terrific way to sample from several wine makers without having to do a lot of driving in between.

Using a designated driver, or coming on bus tour, as we did, this is a lovely little village with plenty to keep you occupied for several hours or even most of a day. Each tasting room has its own unique personality, not to mention wines, and most have a small gift shop as well. Plan to pay about $5 per person for a tasting (although many opt to share a tasting to cut down costs and increase the number of wines you can sample without feeling tipsy). Generally, if you make a purchase, the cost of the tasting is waived.

Off I-82, exit 80, sourtheast of McDonald's, is a "mall" of tasting rooms for 9 wineries. We only tried 3 of them but found 2 that we will revisit again as well as try others. Tasting fee was only $5. We found a couple of white wines at Coyote Canyon that were very delicious as well as a red. Also tasted a red a winery next door but didn't get a bottle this time. It is about 50 miles south of Yakima. Wished we had time to try the others but will need a designated driver so can hit them all.

Group of wineries in one building. Coyote Canyon Winery, Martinez & Martinez Winery and McKinley Springs Winery. Surrounded by several other wineries this is a great place to taste wine and learn about Prosser and the area. Each winery is unique.

We stopped here on our search for a sweet wine. We found a late harvest Riesling that we partook of while sitting outside.

This location has several tasting room. Since this was our last stop, we did not check out the other rooms, but we suspect, like Coyote Cannon (the one we visited) they are more along the lines of a variety of red wine speciality.

There was a nice tasting room and small gift area.

What an outstanding idea. This is the wine country equivalent to Portland's food cart pods, which give so many options. Great wineries
