Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. First, they seemed short-staffed, but it's a family run operation, so who knows the reason for the line of customers waiting to pay, and the only apparent waitress, cashier, hostess, kitchen manager, running around trying to do it all.

We had no trouble finding a seat, it is a small place though, so I imagine they are easily overwhelmed and having such a small entry/cash register area adds to the confusion. It took some time for the waitress to address our orders, and took at least 20 minutes for lunch to arrive, not typical for the majority of Mexican places I've eaten at.

I ordered the fish tacos...not a good choice as they are deep fried and all you taste is the coating, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and dried out. The pintos and rice were great though. My husband ordered the grande tostada and he said it was very good. The chips are served good and hot and the salsa is definitely spicy. They also offer Coke in the bottle, the Mexican Coke with real sugar. A plus. Lunch for 2 with only one soda was $29...a bit pricey for what we had.

I am still exploring the Mexican faire in this area, but this was not the most positive experience.

Wonderful family run restaurant in town. We go twice a month and if it is just the two of us they as about our Granddaughter. We have never had a bad meal and we have been going for over 20 years. Service us alway good and they stop by the table just to talk and ask if everything is ok and if they can get you something else. Just a small place but wonderful atmosphere and could use a little TLC. Home away from home.

If you want true, authentic, delicious Mexican food, Tijuana is your place!!! The other Mexican places in Monroe serve Mexican food that's been "Americanised". Tijuana has the real thing full of deep, rich, classic flavours that are made with love & are family classic recipes that have been simmering all day. If you want something like Azteca, go elsewhere. The drinks are FAB too & they don't water down their margaritas or fill them with green margarita mix. You can taste the tequila & they are delish! You can't beat their Sangria either! Trust me......If you want the taste of Mexico, come to Tijuana!!!

We travel to the Yucatan a couple times a year, but when we are home this is our local place for good Mexican food and service. Always treated like family and great food! Check out the specials and anyone of the soups. The menu has all the "American" standbys but even those are more flavorful and authentic. Even the rice and beans are great.
