In reading negative reviews, to be fair to Lopez, this is not a big city place. Do not come here to expect the same service - you are truly on island time - relax, enjoy and roll with it.

Restaurants and accommodations on the island can be good or bad - you can go to the same restaurant one time and it's fabulous, and the next time it could be not so good.

We never knew they had camping and RVs until we saw the map this time, but I'm wondering if it is overflow because why else wouldn't you camp at Spencer Spit or Odlin Park.

This is a review of the rooms/restaurant there. We have been going to Lopez for many years. Islander is the only hotel on the island; otherwise, just B&Bs, tent cabins, or house rentals. We just stayed there recently and the view from the wall of windows on the upper level is fabulous. The rooms have kitchenettes and are good-sized. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Internet and cell service is difficult everywhere on the island, don't expect any at all. Yeah, there is a road between the building and the water, but its not a big traffic area, you're on an island!

Restaurant is good but can be slow during the summer, and does not offer breakfast. During off season, kind of limited. Used to have a great prime rib special on Friday nights. We didn't hear other folks in other rooms, which is good. Pleasantly surprised - they include hair dryer and a flashlight in the room.

Room Tip: The cabins or the upper level of the main building

Thank you so much for your wonderful, fair and clarifying review. We are so happy you enjoyed your room and view! Yes, we serve breakfast daily in the high season with some breakfast served some holidays in the lower seasons. We still have our fabulous Prime Rib every night during the high season and then Thurs,Fri and Sat during the shoulder and low seasons. We look forward to your next stay!

The rooms are across the street from the office and marina. Don't let the picture fool you, there is a road between the hotel building and the boats. We were upstairs. The room was clean, everything worked, there was a balcony with view of the water. It just all seemed very ... basic. When I think "resort", I think a little more upscale. But there are only a couple of places on the island, and if the other one is booked, then you end up here. Also, Wi-fi is only available in the office/restaurant area, not in the rooms.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I hope you will come back and stay with us in the future. We are working on getting wifi in the rooms and down on the docks. But for now, wifi is only in the lodge area.

Spent the weekend at the lopez islander, it was very laid back and friendly. Spent more time in the bar area than I would have expected, felt like I had walked into a time machine with the selections on the juke box. Was pleasantly surprised at how friendly all the patrons were, many of them seemed to be local and well, you never know how people will be. Our dog had never seen bunnies before and she went absolutely crazy for them. The only thing I was not pleased with is the hot tub seemed super chlorinated, to the point where it burned skin and eyes. I have been in a lot of hot tubs and pools over the years and never had that experience.Would recommend that the proprietors do a better job of chlorine regulation and/or unlock that garage door for ventilation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your experience here at our resort. Our maintenance team resolved the over chlorination problem and are currently working on a better ventilation plan for the winter time when the pool area is closed, which includes the big sliding doors. So happy you enjoyed the bunnies and our Tiki Lounge. Hope to see you again soon!

We were just camping, because we had friends with a boat at the marina. When I inquired, they said there was "full use" of all the facilities. It wasn't cheap and the camping was just a big field full of holes and rabbit droppings. If you don't want the porta-potty, you have to walk through the field and try not to wrench your ankle. They could have informed us that despite the pretty high camp fee, the showers were $2. OK, but no one told us we'd need quarters. When I suggested they inform people that the showers require 8 quarters, she said, snottily, "oh, you've never been here before?" I guess they assume that of every guest. The bathroom was nice though. One night, a loud diesel pickup truck from the house right behind the camping field revved the engine and sat next to the camp sites with the stereo blaring at 3 AM. When I informed the front desk, she rolled her eyes at me and said she couldn't control what the locals do. I described the truck and she said she didn't know who it was. I found the truck at the house behind the place the next day. It was pretty cold, so we wanted to sit in the "lobby" for the wifi. All the doors were open and the ceiling fans were full blast. Too cold to sit, and the fireplace wasn't on. I guess they wanted you to go to the bar, where it was warm, but no wifi there and the football game was on. No hot water in the women's bathroom off the lobby. Just not a very nice place- surely not a "resort"!

Room Tip: We camped.

I am very sorry about your experience in our camping area. I assure you, we do not tolerate anyone disturbing our guests, day or night. Yes, this time of year our fall-winter dining is in our large lounge area which has an all ages area. There is free wifi in the whole lodge, so I am not sure why you could not get on our free wifi anywhere in the building. The maintenance team has fixed our bathroom sink faucets too. We take your feedback very serious and hope you will come back and try us again.

We had such a relaxing time at the Islander Resort. Forget the stress of bringing your car on the ferry. They swung by and picked us up when we got off the ferry and the rest of the weekend we rented bikes. We enjoyed fish and chips for dinner and a great breakfast before they shuttled us back to the ferry. Rent the nearby bikes and check out the whole island. Farmers market and restaurants as well as plenty of beach stops to check out. We stayed in a bay view cabin. It was super cozy! The Islander is a great base from which to explore the island and relax. We'll be back!
