Description: The Tides Tavern offers the greatest house-made food and finest beverages in the western hemisphere, but only to persons over 21 years of age. Please be prepared to show I.D. The building that houses the Tides Tavern was built by Axel Uddenberg in 1910 and served the area as a general store. Located next to the "People's Dock," the town's only public ferry landing, it was called the West Side Mercantile. From that time until the present it has had a series of owners and has been several businesses. Run down and in a state of disrepair, the building was bought by Peter Stanley in 1973. After an extensive and ambitious rebuilding project, the Tides opened it's doors to the public on Saturday June 2, 1973.

The smoked salmon appetizer here is delicious and the portion size is great for two. All food is locally sourced and/or sustainable. Burgers are always good. I had the grilled halibut sandwich which was fresh, not overly cooked and the herb butter gave it great flavor. Tartar sauce was tangy and tasty. The cole slaw was perfect with just a touch of mayonnaise, if any.
There is a good selection of local brews and a full cocktail menu. You MUST be 21 to enter Tides Tavern.
The location is perfect down in the harbor and if the weather is nice, sitting on the deck feels warm and wonderful.
One of our favorite places in Gig Harbor.

Always a lively place, Tides is fun to go to any time of year - especially to enjoy their salmon fish and chips..

We recently moved to the Gig Harbor area. We love the Tides! You can't beat the view from their outside deck; inside we enjoy a warm and friendly place in rainy weather. The menu is quite varied: from great tavern food to healthy salads and fish of course. This is where you see neighbors and friends meeting to socialize over lunch. They also have a large selection of brews and TVs on all the sports and other channels. Fun!

There is no better location for a meal or drinks. SPECTACULAR views, great vibe. Food is good, not fantastic. Get a table outside, relax and enjoy!
