This well-run motel in the town of Freeland on the southern part of Whidbey Island is the type of accommodation that you are always happy to find while traveling. My wife and I have stayed here several times while visiting our son and his family. Manager Sabrina Holmes has done an outstanding job of furnishing the rooms with items that give travelers that "home away from home" feeling. Thanks to the outstanding staff, our room has always been very clean and comfortable. The motel is conveniently located across the street from a well-stocked grocery store. The town of Freeland has several restaurants and a variety of other businesses.

My sister and I were looking for an expensive place near the water on Whidbey. We brought two dogs and wanted a place near where they could play on the beach. Harbor Inn was perfect! We were within two miles of Double Bluff Beach where dogs can run off-leash and dig in the sand. The motel was easy to find, within walking distance of cafes and a supermarket. The large room had two queens, microwave and refrigerator (watch out though, it froze our hardboiled eggs!). The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go there again.

We found Harbor Inn looking for a cheap place to stay 3 nights. We reserved a single queen bed and were so surprised at the size of the room! It was more like a suite. They advertise monthly rates and it would not be that difficult due to the size, and comfort of this room and all the drawer space. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Spotless. Everything looks new. There was microwave and fridge, a real coffee pot with pretty good coffee, hairdryer, all that stuff. Even a fan! I'm one of those people that loves to sleep with a fan so I was delighted. There is a latte stand, big grocery store, hardware store across the street. We ate at Freelands Cafe a couple blocks away, it was good. Also at Mo's, really good. The staff was really nice. This is off the subject, but we enjoyed looking at the different LED bulbs suited for the different style of lamp or light fixture. It's not what I would call upscale, but we were happy to stay there. The object of the trip was to go kayaking and we kayaked for 4 beautiful days.

Room tip: We were on the upstairs corner near the office. Very quiet, no traffic back and forth. It's not a romantic place but we brought our own romance :)

Had to stay at this hotel for a recent work trip. The price was right and the room was very large with a queen bed for my husband and I and a pull out for our son. However we never did pull out the pullout because there was a note on it that said if you pull it out to use they charge you and extra 15$! The room was old and musty, furniture outdated, but large with a small fridge, microwave and table/chairs. The woman who was there working-just one the whole weekend-was friendly and helpful. However the thing we could not get past was the awful sewer smell in the room. After the first time we flushed the toilet the smell of old BM's did not leave the room the entire time we were there. Would not stay there for the event next year.

We are puzzled by your comments and by the fact that you didn't notify the front desk or request a room change? In 12 years of ownership we have never had a complaint about fowl odor in any of our guest rooms; however, we do take your complaint seriously and will inspect regularly for any reoccurrence. Regarding your bold statement, "Smelly and dirty rooms...": The facts are that you only occupied a single room, not "rooms", and though we may have dated furnishings, our guest rooms are exceptionally clean -- a fact underlined in reviews submitted here by other TripAdvisor contributors. We are sorry for the unpleasant experience but just maybe you can give us a second-chance?

Located just off the main highway on the island, the property is a traditional motel type lodging with outside corridors and enormous rooms. TV with a few channels, microwave, mini-fridge & coffee maker. Spotless, immaculate bathroom with all the amenities, huge supermarket directly across the street, nice friendly cafe (with separate bar) up the street (The Freeland Cafe). I stayed three pleasant nights, no noise and friendly staff. Would defiantly stay again.

Room tip: All rooms face the same direction so you would choose either first or second floor.
