The house excels in outdoor experience with right on the beach location and comfortably furnished deck and covered porch; however, the house inside is rather uncomfortable. A/C amenity listed is misleading as two upstairs bedrooms are either scorching hot (as there is no A/C there and the floor heater just heats the room to 80 in a few minutes but not less) or uncomfortably cold. The small bathroom (was our mistake to overlook that the description was missing from the post) is downstairs only and requires navigating very steep steps from the second floor and provides a tight original shower; there is another washroom in the downstairs bedroom but the smell of chlorine (from cleaning we assumed) never vented away; thus, prevented us to stay there. The house does smell of mold though with time it subsided. The beds were too firm for our taste and combined with either being hot or cold did not land to a good night rest. The windows in upstairs bedrooms some lack drapes, others are covered with very thin white ones; thus, the rooms were lit up from sun by 5-30 am.
We spent most of the time downstairs but even for our small family it was barely enough room, so we would not recommend it on a rainy day/season for a large party. The kitchen was not stocked with basic items as other rental properties we've stayed at (salt, pepper, foil etc); thankfully, the grocery store was nearby. Cabinets/drawers/faucets are not well maintained and for families that cook this was a stark contrast to otherwise nice furniture throughout the house.
Our stay was just after the Thanksgiving Holiday. My sister in law and I were looking for a beach cottage on the water for a much needed girls get away and this home was just right. We were pleased from the moment we walked in the door. The views of the water were incredible throughout the house and there was a Christmas tree lit to welcome us! New, comfortable furniture in the living room was just right for us to cozy up on with a glass of wine by the fire. Though you can't burn wood, those Duraflame logs are pretty darn nice as an alternative! The kitchen was surprisingly equipped with quality pots, pans, knives and high end appliances. Any cook would appreciate the opportunity to use that Wolf range. We were also happy to see the cupboards stocked with spices, sugar coffee etc. as I had forgotten to bring coffee. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. We slept well with the comfortable mattresses, pillows and linens. Both bathrooms are downstairs, one is a full bath, the other is a half bath off the downstairs bedroom. It is important to note that the stairs to the upper bedrooms are steep and may be challenging for some to navigate. There is a full laundry room, which we did I not use. The beach is literally just steps out the back door leading to a level, sandy beach perfect for strolling for shells and rocks. It was cool when we stayed so we did not have an opportunity to enjoy opening the outdoor room and backyard but what an added living space to this home when the weather is warm! I imagine there are some amazing sunsets also. There is a grocery store just a few miles away and Joe's Woodfire Pizza has some delicious takeout food. I am hoping to return again and explore Deer Lagoon just across the road. We highly recommend this home.
