The teenagers that were working at the slides were mostly helpful and had smiles on their faces, even though is was cold and windy with a slight rain on and off. The slides are fun but certainly dated and in need of a fresh paint job, including resealing the slides themselves.
Good family fun.
Always an excellent day with family, we have our granddaughter's bday party with the family each year and we all love it. Highly recommend rentin g the shelters if you are there for the day with group. Concession is available too. This is a very popular destination in Birch Bay so planni g ahead if possible is great! Only 1 suggestion. ..PLEASE stock some child size t shirts!!
Extremely busy on a sunny Sunday. Line ups for all the slides averaging 15 minutes or so. My 9 year old grandson had a ball for over 6 hours. A real plus is that you can bring your own food and drinks - except glass bottles of course. Discount rates after 3 pm. and discounted rates for seniors too.
We visited from Surrey British Columbia and spent the afternoon enjoying the park. The pools and slides are very clean and well kept. Staff is plentiful which was nice to see, most appear to be life guards doing double duty. We checked out the gift store which had a variety of goodies and local items for purchase. The concession ,although we did not purchase anything, always was crowded and the food looked good. The BIG deal for me for the day was the huge as i call it" drop of doom" waterslide. Being not so comfortable with heights, we watched some visitors taking the plunge, so after my wife said" so ,are you going to do it? !!!" I made the choice and conquered a fear. The walk up the 6 flights of stairs had my heart pounding, and that isnt because i am 53, adrenaline was flowing. After some simple instructions from the lifeguard posted at the entrance to the slide on the 6th level, away i went. The first drop , as always, seems the worst, zero gravity feeling ;-0 The slow down after the drop is a hoot, but if you are male, take my advice and listen to the pointers.... Keep legs crossed until you stop. Enjoy the day here, we did and we are OLD as the youngins say.
As a long time resident we just took our first family trip to the park. We had discounted Groupon tickets and a few passes, which made access cheaper. Had we had to pay full price I’d take off another star. The rides are decent and the kids had fun, but they all seemed slow. Both kids and adults would exit each ride with lackluster momentum. The tube ride with two pools in between is odd, as the pools through people off mid ride and slow the whole thing down. Not the best. The big drop is scary and I’d NOT recommend it for anyone under 120 lbs. You really need to keep your chin tucked or you’ll bonk your head at the bottom. I did but not too badly. I think this place could use a retrofit and it would be much more fun. Overall though not a bad option for a once a war outing on a sunny day.
Friends had purchased a few Groupon vouchers and insisted that we accompany them to enjoy the day at Birch Bay while their youngsters enjoyed the water slides for the day. With the exception of the line-up at the Canadian/USA border it was a very enjoyable. I believe that there are 4 water slides in the park, gosh I wish there was something like this when I was knee high to a grasshopper. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
