Was in Wytheville(pronounced With-ville by the locals) and happened by this curiously historic place right no Main Street, then realized it was a restaurant, when looking for a unique dining experience perfect for two or a group, this is it in this little hamlet, exposed hand hewn beams througout, creeky wood floor and decorated in period funishings, if that was not enough to grab some history buffs, the food on our visit was superb, we had the stuffed chicken breast with cream cheese dressing, baked squash and fried grits that was formed into a small cake and served with a marmalade over it, the beef stew was amazing and I am not a 'beef stew' eater, but was more like steak cubes served on platter edged with mashed potatoes, this was a memorable place and memorable meal, we were looking for someplace to grab a bite and were are "chain" eateries that would have been predicatable, this was just as much a suprise on the inside as on the out, you will not go wrong here, while some may complain about service, it is not a fast food place, slow down, enjoy the view, enjoy your company and enjoy the food, it is prepared as ordered, not made in advance and warmed up, it is a different kinda place for a different kind of experience, hope I don't steer you wrong, reservations are accepted, probably preferred on a weekend for a late dinner, but they sat us right away at a small table for two, dinner cost us less than $40, hope you enjoy it as much as we did, PEACE2U

Based on some of the negative reviews I was leary about going here. However - The food was good, the service was good, the prices reasonable. It is not a fast food establishment and the menu makes that clear by stating all meals prepared as ordered. We were looking for a long relaxing meal and that is what we got. The place has lots of atmosphere - building goes back to 1776 or at least parts of it do. Would go again!!!!

Unexpected jewel in Wytheville (prounced withhh . . . ville). Updated traditional Southern Virgina delights, such as peanut soup, fried grits with jalapeno relish, crook-necked squash, in a revolutionary war era log house. Service was lovely and don't forget to visit the eclectic adjoining gift/antique shop. About $50 for two.

We were staying overnight in Wytheville, and this place intrigued us to try it for dinner. I had read earlier reviews, and I can tell you, we enjoyed it. We were expecting a long wait (as said in reviews), but that's how a lot of nice (not chain) restaurants are. Our favorite back home is a place we know that they will not rush you. We both had filets, and they were great! Price was also reasonable for everything we ordered. That can vary, I suppose, to region you live in. We can hope to go back if we travel thru Wytheville again.....

The pork loin with apple and onion stuffing was excellent, as was the buttermilk pie with fresh berry compote!
