Grab and go food like prepared sandwiches and salads. Sells snacks like famous ginger cake cookies. In historic area. No indoor seating. Less friendly than it used to be...miss items made on site. Frequently crowded--length of queue can make browsing items difficult. Convenience prices.

The bakeshop is a good place to grab some colonial baked goods for a light snack. The snack items which are strictly colonial are ginger snap cookies, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin, sugar cookies, apple turnovers and a pretzel roll. There are also some modern lunch options which are to-go options including sodas, salads (Cobb, garden), sandwiches (PBJ, ham, turkey, garden veggie wrap) and some Lindt chocolate/ Hershey's chocolate bars. The shop itself is poorly lit but gets the job done. They did have an EXTREMELY good chocolate cupcake though. The home-made frosting was excellent. But it has the same selection as the Price Store, Palace Apothecary, etc for quick snack items. Nothing particularly special about it. Just a convenient snack shop,

The historic taverns were too busy for me, so I decided just to grab some lunch at the Raleigh Tavern Bakeshop during my visit to Colonial Williamsburg. I got the salad with chicken, a bottle of water, and a ginger cookie-cake for $13.54 and sat outside to eat. The salad was so good! The prices were what you would expect for a theme park.

Sad, not as it was in years past. Everything prepackaged. I've read people saying that they are baking fresh gingerbread. I missed that. I always would buy the cornbread. However on a visit a couple years ago no more cornbread. Even when I asked one of the staff she tells me we never had cornbread! Really? Guess I've imagined eating it for thirty years. Here it is March 2018, no cornbread, packaged foods.

Walked in and baker had just pulled ginger cakes out of the wood fired oven. Ordered bakers dozen on the spot.
