We just spent 2 nights at the Barclay Cottage. We were immidiately impressed with the beautiful building and gardens, we were not at all let down as we saw the interior and met the charming and perfectly welcoming and helpful hosts. Our room was comfortable and met all our needs. The trip was topped off by fabulous breakfasts both mornings. I only wish we had stayed longer! The cottage is as close as I wanted to get to the "action" closer to the boardwalk. It was perfect walking distance to the beach, etc.

Room Tip: Next time we would get the king bed but we were perfectly comfortable.

Yes, we wish you had been able to stay longer, too. We'll look forward to your next visit knowing that you'll relax and enjoy being here! Thank you so much for your review. It was very kind of you to do that.

The Barclay Cottage and its hosts are a joy. While only 3 short blocks back from the beach, it is decades back from the line of beachfront high rises; a charming oasis. We appreciated the comfortable private home atmosphere. The living room and porch areas are very inviting.

We are glad you like the feel of the Beach as it was a long time ago. We are so lucky to have been able to preserve that ambiance at our historic inn while still having the conveniences of today that we can't do without. Thank you for commenting about this.

We stayed at the Barclay Cottage for our 12 year anniversary, and it could not have been better. The innkeepers were so attentive, kind, and hospitable and they had all the amenities you could wish for - bikes, boogie boards, beach umbrellas, and even a hammock and swing on the porch to be lazy in style. We enjoyed a movie from their dvd collection and kept coming back to those warm, homemade cookies that stayed out all the time. Thanks for a great getaway!

It is such a pleasure for us to host folks who are celebrating romantic milestones and we are glad you came here for your 12th anniversary. Thank you for your comments and especially the one about the cookies. Just so you know...I love cookies and couldn't get away with making them every day if you weren't here, so thank YOU for the cookies!

My husband and I stayed at Barclay this past weekend. We loved everything about it...attention to detail, warm hospitality of innkeepers, and the beautiful setting! Can't wait to plan another trip to come back...everything you need at one place. We walked or biked everywhere we wanted to go. Make some time to sit and relax on one of the lovely porches:).

Room Tip: The only room available was one where we shared a bath, and that was no problem at all.

Yes, those porche! They are such a great place to relax and even to watch the fireworks over the coean o0n thew holiday weekends and every Sunday and Wednesday evening between 4th of July and Labor Day. I actually take my laptop out there when I need to do some work...there are electrical outlets and the wifi is strong out there. Thank you so much for mentioning them. We won an award for "Best Front Porch in North America" last year! Come back, claim your rocking chair and enjoy them again.

Barclay Cottage sits in a shaded neighborhood only three blocks from the beach and a great boardwalk. Bikes, beach umbrellas, towels and many other complimentary accoutrements come with a stay. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. A great room provides a place for guests to meet and exchange restaurant and event information. Marie-Louise seems to out do herself everyday with elegant and tasty breakfasts. Her afternoon cookie batches are a personal favorite. Steve and Marie-Louise seem to know every restaurant, business, and resident in the area and give impartial and sage advice on all. The rapport they create in the cottage comes from their own warm relationship and their interest in every guest. Guests feel like family after one friendly and delicious breakfast. This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay.

We really do enjoy our guests. Thank you for noticing that and for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. Those cookies are the highlight of my day. I love to make them!
