We made a very last minute reservation at Walnut Hills on Saturday. I spoke with Tina who was helpful and kind.

We arrived at the most lovely jewel located in the middle of gorgeous farms. This place is definitely on our list of places to visit again;hopefully for more than just one night.

Kudos to the staff because you can clearly see the love they pour into this place.

First, let me say that this is a very nice campground. There is a pool thats nice but not the best. There is a disc golf course within the campground. A "lake" that is 2 foot deep and looks kinda like a sewer pond at times. It is quiet and relaxing. They have the most beautiful grass of any campground in the world I am fairly certain. Having said all that, your campsite determines what kind of stay you are going to have.
Our campsite was accommodating to a 24ft rig, ours was only 17ft with overall length of 22ft. Our site was looking at the campers who had a back in site of the lake. We had to back into the hill(cliff) behind us to not have our hitch into the road. Also there was no room to park the truck at our site since you absolutely CANNOT TOUCH THE GRASS! We were told at least 2 times while setting up our trailer that our wheels on the truck were touching the grass. Our awning was out in the road slightly as were a few other campers. The back in sites we were in were super small.
Overall the camping trip was peaceful as far as noise and I believe the campground was at max capacity. But given the layout of our campsite, there was no privacy and you were practically forced to make eye contact with any passerby, so if this isn't your thing, you needs to pick a better campsite.
The workers seems fairly friendly as long as you weren't touching the grass. They offered garbage pick up each day which was nice. And they seem to strongly enforce the speed limit.
Now lets talk about the layout of the campground. We couldn't park at our site so we had to park above the campsite in overflow parking. If you have any disabilities at all, this will not work for you. There is a hill/bank/cliff you have to navigate to get to your site unless you walk the road which may be quite a ways. And if you have anything in the truck to unload at your site, good luck, because when you are parking your rig on most of the campsites you are blocking the entire road and holding up any other campers who may have arrived the same time as you. And as for leaving on a busy sunday morning...have mercy, its quite a show to see all the trucks holding up to their campers having the roads blocked and you at their mercy. The one way roads they have created make navigating the campground a nightmare if you are in certain areas of the park.
If you can tolerate a lot of annoying things, you will be fine, otherwise I would call and talk to the staff to let them know exactly what you want before you book a stay here.

Stopped to dump our tanks but ended up staying over a night. Clean, nice staff, great playground and amenities. It was overall a good value. The only reason I dont leave 5 stars is it had been raining for days and they could have given us a dryer site up a little from the creek.

Thank you, Walnut Hills, for recognizing that the site we had chosen wasn’t a good fit for the number of nights we were going to be there! Even on a busy holiday weekend you managed to find us a great site (#35), by having us camp one night in “Last Resort”. It was so worth it!! Loved hanging out with the ducks st the end of the pond just steps from our RV! We were also close to the bath house. This is a very well maintained campground resort with lots of activities and a beautiful playground. Clean bathrooms though shower stalls are a bit tight. Water was warm and had great pressure. Part of the campsites and cabins are located up on a bluff with a great view. There are also some secluded cabins and tent sites. It is located closer to Stuarts Draft than Staunton, but is convenient to both of those as well as Waynesboro, Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. Highways 340, 11, and 33 are picturesque.

Nice site backed up to the lake. Staff was very friendly and helpful as always. Very busy holiday weekend but still quiet. Bath house was kept very clean. Overall a great experience. We'll definitely be back.
