My boyfriend and I stayed at Lydia Mountain Cabins (the Snuggle Den) for a weekend in February. The cabins are quintessential log cabins with big fireplaces and personal hot tubs. It's a great break from the city, and not difficult to get to at all, even during D.C. Friday afternoon rush hour.

My husband and I stayed in Cabin #8(The Shadows) for the weekend for a wedding. Our cabin was nice and clean perfect for a couple. Cabin had a fully equipped Kitchen. Everything was spectacular except the bed. For the love of god they need to replace the mattress, it was the worst bed we have ever slept on. It was horribly worn, hard as a rock and we sunk in the center, you could feel every spring. I am a side sleeper and my hips were sore and a bit bruised after this trip. The bed creaked with every single movement you made too. For the price we paid and the outdoor activities we did such as hiking we were truly disappointed in the bed, they really need to fix this issue. After speaking with several friends who also stayed in cabins nearby they complained of the same issue in their cabins. Cabins 7 & 9 have the same issue. So just be aware and at least bring a mattress topper if you want a restful sleep.

Room Tip: Cabins 10 & 11 have amazing views. Cabin 10 is bigger for multiple guests. Cabins 7-9 need new mattresses.

Phenomenal weekend with friends at Dancing Bear! The cabin is fully equipped, you only bring food and beverages and you are all set. It is so relaxing you don't want to leave it at all. The sunrise from the balcony is amazing, star gazing at night is out of this world, chilling with a glass of wine by the fireplace priceless, and hitting the hot tub at night is the perfect way to end the day! Highly recommend this cabin for couples, families or reunions!

Third time back to this hidden gem in the woods and love it more every time! Took the kids this time to tubing at Massanutten which is only 30 mins away. Tons of fun for the kiddos and adults. The house has 2 wood burning fireplaces, hot tub (my daughter went in 3 times), fire pit, super comfy beds, tons of board games, books, beautiful views and all the cooking gear you need. This vacation rental makes you feel at home away.

My family has now visited Lydia three times. We have stayed in "Just Luvin," "three bears," and "fantasy hideaway." All three visits were fabulous. All three cabins were fantastic. It has become our favorite weekend getaway. Heading down again in march. We look forward to many visits in the future. Lydia is great for seeing nature (Shenandoah Park), history (Monticello, Montpelier), and just relaxing, we have also found lots of great area restaurants. We especially love Jack Brown's single wide burger joint.
