I had not expected the resort buildings around the cellar door, the book-ahead-only tours and the custom cars at the front. I personally don't like the commercial kick this whole place had.
But I found the tasting table a little better than the whole commercial feel. The lady entertained our requests at free wine tastings but the ports caught our attention more than the wine did. Our family friend bought a port and that waived our tasting charges.
The other good takeaway I had here was The Jam Factory next door. We enjoyed talking to the artisans and hearing their stories of their craft. We got unique gifts for home as well.
Pity we could not see more of the property. I would recommend calling ahead and booking your visit, as it fell flat as a walk-in winery.
