Kelly's Beach Resort had been selected by our travel agent for a one-night stay during our 11-week vacation from October to December. While not denying that Kelly's has some positive features we have not been satisfied much with this stay.
Pros: The staff was friendly, the gardens and the pool were well-maintained, the bungalow was clean.
Cons: Room furniture was just basic, the bathroom arrangement (narrow toilet, small basin outside, narrow shower) was not comfortable, the tariff 33 hot water restrictions announced in a brochure on the table seemed strange to us.
For that part of the beach which is monitored by lifeguards you have to walk quite a bit, and in early November there had been no chance to buy some snack or drink on the beach...
Pro: The restaurant was pretty busy for dinner. A friendly waitress took our order: crumbed prawns and bruschetta followed by a giant portion of seafood gumbo and accompanied by a bottle of Shiraz. It was good but just too much - the black forest gateau had to be skipped much to my regret.
Con: Neither of us slept well. The bed was narrow and wobbly. Some night bird shrieked continuously (just nature and not the resort's fault). And as the blinds did not close properly the light rays from some beaming external lamp lit the room excessively.
Sorry, no hard feelings towards the Resort - but this is definitely a place for families and not for "spoilt" adults used to a more stylish atmosphere.

Hey there Anita O!

Thanks for taking the time to provide a thorough review on your time in our region, we really do appreciate the feedback!
The resort is a place for the more laid back travellers as we are in the self contained, standard accommodation bracket and we do sincerely apologise that we failed to meet expectations during your stay. We hope you had an amazing time on your travels throughout Aus!

Kelly's staff were genuinely friendly, offering prompt service and insight into the local area. This property is much cheaper than the other options in town and the rooms reflect this. If you don't need luxury, then here's the place for you. We had to crank up the air-con the moment we arrived as the room was extremely hot, but a dip in the 2 pools cooled us down anyway. The beach is only a short walk through the resort gardens, and is perfect for swimming. The rooms/bungalows are set apart from one another and the landscaping provides plenty of privacy.

Room Tip: You'll need to run the air-con during summer to cool the bungalows down

Our tour put us here for one night it was different, our bungalow was set in a forest type setting very large and would sleep five so plenty for us two, large friendly lizards wandering freely and bird life, apartment was we thought very tired and needed an upgrade and looking around the other apartments looked the same, we had private parking close to out apartment and it was only a short walk to reception and bar and restaurant, which we used as it was too far to walk into town and couldn't be bothered to get a taxi, the beer choice was very limited, and only bottles the restaurant was ok but dated and the menu very dated the food took a while but was nice and hot when it came and ok in taste, it was a bit run down for us and too far from town but for families with kids maybe a good choice as they had swimming pool and not far from the beach

Room Tip: I think all rooms are large and are in a bush setting

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback on your time with us here at Kellys.
We are the choice for families in the region, however we do have a lot of couples come and stay also. Even though we are situated approximately 5 minutes drive from the main part of Bargara we do offer the essentials with the onsite restaurant and kiosk for those last minute needs and we feel offers a more quiet & relaxing experience away from the hustle & bustle with the 5 and a half acres just a short two minute walk to the beach :)
The villas are all individually owned and have been recently painted, the next thing will be the kitchens which we are hoping to have completed in the next 6-12 months - as you can imagine it does take time to coordinate & budget for this by our investors who own the units. We feel the new kitchens & cabinetry will really freshen up the villas.
Thanks again for taking the time to let us know your feedback on your stay and wish you a safe & happy trip with the rest of your travels!

This place was where our tour had us staying for two nights. So pleasantly surprised at the complex; nice swimming pool, tennis, free wifi.....the cottages are so cute and unique with a beach feel with a loft filled with beds too.
Very nice people who run this place.
We did not eat at the restaurant except for continental breakfast as the rest of the meals were taken care of by our tour company. Breakfast was basic with toast, cereal and fruit.
Be careful walking the paths of your tall; my 6’4 husband walked in to SO many spider webs. It’s great seeing all the lizards all over the resort, feels very eco.
Short walk to the beautiful Kelly beach. Do swim where the lifeguards recommend.

Staying at Kelly's Beach Resort was a very nice and pleasant experience
The pricing for the 5 of us was reasonable to maybe on the low end , but expectations was exceeded for what we received
The accommodation fully self contained was very clean and neat all the area's around the resort was need and tidy with gardens and swimming pools well looked after and very friendly staff
Well priced restaurant on site wit a bit of 80's retro games room that my adult sons and young daughter thoroughly enjoyed

The beach is close walk away and all infrastructure like shops and coffeehouses restaurants a short drive away

We had all our tour booked by the staff at Kelly's and was presented on arrival with all tour guides time and itineraries

One of the best value for money accommodations we have stayed in
