We had a lovely day to walk around the gardens whilst we waited for our ‘slot’ to tour the house. It was very busy due to half term and lots of kids/ overseas students, which spoilt it a little due to noise volumes. The gardens were really lovely, so beautifully planned out. The studio had a number of oil paintings mostly by Churchill. Hadn’t realised he was such a good artist. We had lunch in the cafe. Again very busy, lots of kids allowed to run free by their parents which spoilt it, (one child bumped into me as she wasn’t looking). The suasage and mustard roll and scones were really fresh and tasty.

This is a fascinating journey into the life of Winston Churchill. The home is chock full of memorabilia and family keepsakes as well as original furnishings. We decided to visit last minute and it was an absolute gem. I lived in the UK years ago and never visited. Now I regret that I hadn't been before.

I loved seeing Churchill's desk, living spaces and art work. Even the every day elements of like like the kitchen and bathroom captivate. I would highly recommend a visit to Chartwell. For British citizens, they should make it at least once. For visitors to the UK it is a must see!

We decided to go her with our little one and had a fabulous day out. You travel to Westerham then head into the depths of the countryside before you finally reach the magnificent house. There is plenty of parking and great facilities. We toured the grounds before we went into the house for our allotted time. It is such a stunning place, you can really imagine Winston and Clementine living there. It is a very worthwhile visit. We had lunch in the cafe which had plenty of seating and a good choice of food options. A great day out and we would definitely return again.

Easy to find, its well signposted. You need to get a parking ticket which is issued free by scanning your membership card or by payment if not a member.
There was more than adequate car parking as we arrived early, but by midday the large car park was close to full. The house itself is fascinating, and the number of items on display exceeded expectations. The volunteer crew provided so much history about the property and its famous ex-owner.
The grounds extend to 77 acres so there are plenty of opportunities to stretch legs as the ground s are nicely hilly - it was muddy on our visit. Walking the gardens was also interesting, and seeing the 'wall that Winston built' added a new dimension - it is a big wall! There are several public loo's (clean) and the restaurant is large and served decent food (a nice change) at reasonable prices. Overall impressed with the attitude of the staff manning the property - all cheerful and knowledgeable. I did not relish the thought of using the large circular swimming pool (part of Churchills water features) - obviously they were bred hardier in those days. My measure of any form of purchase is whether I would repeat it - in this instance, most certainly a resounding YES.

A great place to visit , we got there as they opened, and were some of the first to visit the House, we had plenty of time for a good look around, a lovely House, lots to look at , I'm not sure how Churchill found the time to do everything, painting, bricklaying, writing, nice grounds and Gardens to look at, this is a must to see if you are in the area £16,00 each entrance if not a N/T member but well worth it
