We visited Calypso on a Thursday evening after a recommendation from a work colleague. None of us had tried Caribbean food before, which meant two of us were looking forward to it, and one of us was apprehensive!
Two of us opted for the £20 platters for one, and the other had the Calypso fried chicken with fries and roast potatoes. All of us were in agreement that the food was lovely. My platter was excellent and everything was cooked and prepared spot on. The goat curry was so tasty with the meat nice and tender. The accompanying rice had a lovely flavour all of its own, almost too good to eat with the curry!
All in all the platter offers a wide variety of flavours and textures and is a great introduction to Caribbean food for a more than reasonable price.
And the added bonus was drinks weren't expensive either, which makes a refreshing and welcome change.
The staff at Calypso are polite and friendly which complimented the relaxed feel of the venue.
I’ll definitely be recommending Calypso, and will be visiting David’s new Calypso in Darwen town centre when it opens soon.
