As a yurt owner and lover I was very excited to see what these huge yurts were like, and i was not disappointed!
We saw the sign from the road and Parker up on quite a cold and blustery night in December.
I thought with all the wind and later rain that it would be rocking all over the show, but it was sturdy as a rock, and the pitter patter was quite soothing.
It's a huge open plan space, that quite comfortably housed my sister, her husband and her four kids, plus it had all the things you'd need to feel quite at home for a fantastic holiday experience.
Set between Newport and robin hill this is a fantastic location to really feel like you've gotten away from the hussle and bussle of the world, and relax in a countryside with the luxury of glamping.
Just fabulous! Booked for a secret surprise break for Christmas. The owners were so helpful, leaving us plenty of supplies for the log burner so it was nicely warm and toasty. We managed to pop out to the Yurt an hour or two before our 'official arrival' with the kids so that we could put up our little tree and fairy lights, and put away all our food in the well equipped kitchen area. Our beds were all ready for us, so we added some specially festive pj's and slippers, plus of course some stocking to hang by the side of the fireplace!
The owners popped over and gave us some milk and ensured we didn't need anything else and we were left to go and fetch the kids for their special surprise! The look on their faces was just brilliant! Despite it blowing an absolute hooley outside, with some heavy rain lashing the canvas - we didn't really notice! The 'spy hole' at the top of the Yurt allowed us an astonishing view of the stars - the area it is in is really very dark so the night sky was just stunning.
The 'Proper Beds' were very comfy, the bunk beds went down well with the boys, with the trundle under the single bed also giving a great night's sleep. The dinosaur themed play equipment was a hit with the younger ones, especially the matching bed sets! (Other themes Yurts were being made ready for the 2017 season.) It is wonderful to have the bathroom en suite, full sized everything within the Yurt but really not noticeable behind it's secret wall, so no soggy feet or chilly runs over the meadow to make a night-time visit like you would on a camp site! This really is a fabulous little set up. The loose chickens gave the children an interesting game of hide and seek - I can't wait to go back in the summer when I think the outstanding natural beauty of the area will come into it's own - with a nice little play area for the children and lots of space. It's quite idyllic and so very peaceful. If you want somewhere to 'get back to nature' but with some added luxury of home comforts and a log burner - this place has it in spades.
Centrally situated on the Isle of Wight, nowhere is more than 20 minutes drive - beaches, castles, farms, touristy seaside attractions and brilliant country walks - the cycle tracks are among the best you will find and the main town is a 5 minute trip for all you could need. Don't miss this little gem - although doing this review may be counterproductive - make sure you leave a space for me in August!!!
