We ordered the daily lunch special which included a choice of saffron soup or salad and local ham with warm potato salad. It was delicious and one of the best meals we had in Switzerland. They were very busy, but service was efficient and quick. We highly recommend lunch at this restaurant.

Zweisimmen was one of the stops along the Golden Pass route. Since my boyfriend and I had some time to kill, we decided to look for a place to have small bites/snacks. Google showed us some good reviews for Brasserie zur Simme, so that's what we went with.

They weren't serving lunch yet, so we ordered off the snack menu. We had the cured meat plate with cheese and marinated olives. The meat was great - not overly salty or dry. But halfway through, we realized that they forgot the cheese. So we asked them about it and they brought out a plate of it. I'm glad we asked because it was some of the best cheese that we had in Switzerland. We also ordered the fruit cake with fresh whipped cream. I wasn't a huge fan because I don't like cooked fruit, and it was a little too sweet for my taste, but my boyfriend enjoyed it. I did like the fresh whipped cream though.

Also worth noting is that there were also bees everywhere (inside too, since they left the doors open - this was in September), so that took away from the dining experience. It's difficult to enjoy a meal when you're trying to avoid getting stung every five minutes or so. Service was a tad slow.

We ordered one Tagesmenu (starter of soup or salad, plus main course) and had a very good salad with a tangy dressing followed by a fish casserole which was a mix of salmon, prawns and white fish with potatoes in a light but tasty, creamy sauce. At CHF18 we thought it was great value; I think it is available until 2pm everyday. We also ordered a main course of Hackbraten which was 2 generous slices of a very savoury meatloaf, in a rich gravy, with potatoes and vegetables - I think it was about CHF25 and we thought it was also good value. Overall for the money we thought this was the best food we had in a restaurant in Switzerland - it was lovely to find somewhere doing food which is really tasty and light and not all about cheese.

We had lunch here during a drive through the area.
The outside facade hides what is a well-designed restaurant inside.

We were give a menu when we sat down however it was only in German, but we were able to determine that there was a vegetarian pasta dish available.
The meal arrived piping hot about 15 minutes later and while we found it very tasty it was a little salty for our palate.

The macchiato coffee that we had after the meal was well made.

We went to CHEZ MARCO (Brasserie zur Simme) for lunch and were v. pleasantly surprised by the cosy interior, the number of tables occupied at 12.05 and the efficient service. We both had the 'Tagesteller' (menu of the moment which is served only for lunch under the header: You can get it as long as we have it....). The menu is served with either a soup or a salad. With the horrible weather we were happy with a tasty, nicely seasoned patato soup and a fabulous goulash with baked patatoes & cherry toms - accompanied by 5dl of a good Pinot Noir - all was very well and enjoyable except that they have a policy of NOT offering tap water for free. In fact they ask CHF6.- for a litre and not even the fact that we were ordering wine with the food was acceptable. For us, used from France, England, many Swiss places and the US that tap water MUST be offered for free, this was a major NO NO. Of course, the waitress couldn't make an exception but on the other hand, this restaurant has lost two future clients for good. We do not accept this kind of treatment.
The place is beautifully located only a few steps from the train station and is very inviting. The no free water policy is just really a sad development; it's the 2nd time we will avoid an otherwise perfectly wonderful place.
