The staff are great, very helpful and polite. The hotel is clean, food is good (wide range to choose from every night) and overall we thought it was 3 plus - we've given it four stars because it was such good value, staff were super and there was entertainment on if we wanted it. The hotel is opposite the train station and we didn't sleep well the first couple of nights with the noise (it's an early start too). Also, it's opposite a residential block of flats so location isn't great if you want a typical holiday maker type of break. It was a 15-20 min walk into town where there are more touristy bars and restaurants if you prefer those. We would go back because it suited us and you are only a train ride away from Barcelona which is worth a visit (about an hour on the train). Overall, worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front have a sea view but it's not great. However, they are noisy as the train sta...

First of all we were very happy when we arrived at Hotel Volga as we got the sea view which we requested. Rooms are nice and clean and spacious, in a good quiet area with the high street only around the corner. Trainline is opposite the hotel and station is a 5min walk, trains are electric so no noise only the odd announcement, also very handy to go to other beaches if you wish or Barcelona City in 1hr direct. Restaurant is sophisticated and food is fantastic with a variety every night of different meats, seafood/fish, salads and lovely desserts.
The staff are brilliant they really went the extra mile to make our holiday, especially Jose and the rest of the restaurant staff. They really couldn't do enough, also must mention the 'Night Manager' (we think!) who got up early to make us a coffee on our last day as we would have missed breakfast and also arranged transport to our bus stop.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview or upgrade to a privilege room

I have just returned from a school trip with 30 students and we were one of 4 such groups based there at the time. While that might put some people off, I would definitely recommend this hotel if I wanted an inexpensive seaside base, handy for visiting Barcelona but without the bustle and high prices of city centre. The rooms are very simple but spotlessly clean, all have balconies, some facing the pool, others onto the front of the hotel i.e. the street but it's pretty quiet. There is a large lobby area with seating and a large bar/function room leading onto more seating around the small pool. The restaurant was buffet style and I would say the quality and choice of food was excellent for a 3 star hotel, especially breakfast. All the staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful, most speaking some English. The long , clean sandy beach is on your doorstep with several bars and restaurants and the main shopping street is just round the corner again with plenty of bars and restaurants. The train station for exploring Barcelona or other parts of the coast was just at the end of the street. If you want to spend a few days in a real Spanish town but with beach and culture so accessible, this would be a very good choice.

Room Tip: In term time, I would definitely enquire if there were going to be any school parties there and requ...

Spend summer 09 with my gf there.
Everything was just perfect!
We got the room which was pictured on the hotel brochure and it was exactly the same. The view was really romantic and all in all the room was cozy.
IMO this hotel has the greatest breakfast in all town. Huge variety plus they have theme evenings with lots of sea food.
Hotel is just 2 streets from one of the main roads and like 50 meters from the sea.
We used a train which 6 min walk from hotel to get to Barcelona. You arrive exactly in the city centre. All the trains are air conditioned and the cost was kinda 8 euro.

My husband and I travelled to Barcelona for our 30 wedding anniversery and struggled to get any accommodation in the centre so we went to Calella which turned out to be great.
The Train from Barcelona with one change got us straight into Calella and the Hotel Volga was less than 3 mins walk away. It is virtually on the beach and located great for exploring barcelona. The Hotel was clean, we asked for a sea view room and they happily obliged. We stayed bed and breakfast, breakfast was well breakfast, with enough variety of eggs, bacon, pate, cereal, toast, breads and fruits plenty of fruit juices, coffee etc.,. It has a small pool and seating area outside which was a sun trap was a pleasant area really nice for coffee and reading the papers or have a drink before going out into the town centre. There are many cafe, bars resturants and we tried several in the immediate area of the hotel. The prices were good we thought a good tapas, bottle of wine was approx 28 Euros the portions were really big and we would spend the whole night there. The beach just across the road always had something going on and a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We would definitely go back but would like to try other resorts but where ever you stay the centre of barcelona with all the tourist attractions are easy to get to using the metro and train links and all at really reasonable prices. Would denfintely recommend both hotel and location of hotel....

Room Tip: Rooms at front give you a nice view over the beach and are big, but need to be on top floor to have...
