We've been to Corralejo before and previously stayed in a suite in a 4-star hotel, so we approached a single bedroom apartment at the Atlantic Gardens Apartments with a fair degree of trepidation. However, I'm pleased to say that our worries were entirely misplaced and I'd go back there again tomorrow.
Let me be frank: it is my understanding that the Atlantic Garden Apartments are rated as 2-star accommodation and split between privately owned properties and ones rented out through one or more holiday companies. Self-evidently, Simon and Gill's apartment is privately owned and this was reflected in the quality of its fixtures and fittings. It was more than adequate for the needs of two fifty-somethings who went for a relaxing week in the sum. If I were being churlish, I could suggest that it would benefit from the installation of an oven, but we knew at the booking stage that its cooking facilities were limited to a two-ring hob and a microwave and adjusted our catering accordingly.
Its three swimming pools weren't as fancy as those of a 4-star hotel, but we actually found the pool and its surroundings to be far more pleasant than those of the hotel we stayed in last year ....... and the sunbeds were exceptionally long and comfortable; I could have lain upon them all day. Actually, come to think of it, I did!
The apartment has a lovely big bed and a pretty comfortable settee that will do service as a second bed should you wish to try and fit three or four in the apartment. Fortunately, there were just the two of us and it we found it to be spacious and airy, particularly with the doors (to the large balcony) open.
The Atlantic Garden Apartments are situated next door to the Campanario Shopping Centre which made a trip to the supermarket inordinately easy. The shopping centre also contains a variety of bars and restaurants - we had a decent meal at "Boardriders", a surfer-themed restaurant - and you are within easy walking distance of the hundreds of other bars and restaurants that make Corralejo so attractive to its visitors. I hesitate to make any recommendations, but "La Mamma's Grill and Pizzeria" up a side street near the Big Ben Clock Tower is worth a visit, particularly for the fillet steak on sizzling volcanic rock.
Very well equiped modern apartment. Exceptionally clean and fresh looking with modern white furniture. Very well equipped kitchen with washing machine, microwave, toaster , 2 ring hob and fridge freezer, in fact everything you could want for a holiday apartment.
Very comfortable large bed and clean bathroom with bath and shower over bath.
Close to supermarket, bars restaurants and beach.
What more could you want for a holiday.
