A wonderful staying from which you don´t want to go away. Personal and friendly treatment from the facility manager who makes you feel like you are at your second home. Spectacular views and setting of the house, really nice infinity pool and surrounding areas. Definitely, you don´t want to leave the place. Got it all for a relaxing retreat.

Room Tip: Contact directly the facility manager.

Went in mid March, booked via Mr & Mrs Smith. Booked a room with a terrace, however on arrival we were upgraded to Ovejas, which is a separate building with spectacular views, terrace and a jacuzzi bath.

Antonio, the Mirabo manager, is extremely friendly, helpful and approachable. His food is brilliant, and his rapport with guests is brilliant. Also met Ignacio, the hotel owner a couple of times, and he was also great.

The Mirabo is a really nice old building, a converted Olive press, and some of the common sitting/reading areas contain the equipment which has been incorporated into the hotel design.

The main sitting room is very pleasant, having 2 laptops for guests to use, along with free WIFI in the main building. Also there are ipod docking stations for use in the main room as well as in our bedroom.

In the main house there is a self service honesty-bar, a good and reasonably priced wine selection, and a nespresso machine.

Breakfasts were typical, ie selection of breads, croissants, cheese, meats, and also preserves. You can also have eggs made in any way you want, made to order.

The dinners, which cost €30 per person, were really good. We had a cold meat selection as an appetiser one day, followed by lamb which had been slow cooked for hours and was absolutely gorgeous. Followed this up with a really nice cholocate brownie and what seemed to be home made icecream. On the other day, we had a grilled cheese starter, followed by Confit of Duck which again was perfect. Finished off with a Tart Tatin which again hit the spot.

The downside to Mirabo is also its upside - location. It is secluded and peaceful. This is because it is set back and above the road up a small (drivable) path. It is a 30 minute strenuous walk into Valdemossa (probably 2-3km, with a 100m drop and then height gain as you walk across the valley and back up into town), which meant that eating out involved a dark (unstreetlit) walk back to the hotel. There are no taxis, although we scrounged a lift off a chef's brother in one of the restaurants!

The only 2 other small niggles (no real issue) were that there were no coffeemaking facilities in the room, and the shower which was over the top of the corner-type jacuzzi bath was at a slightly awkward angle so lacked power.

Overall, a nice place, and if it's peace and seclusion that you're looking for, this is worth a look!

This is high budget but I would recommend it for a night or 2 side-trip from Palma. This is a lovely little haven in the hills. It is an old converted farm house in a traditional finca style. There is an infinity pool which is very relaxing. I don't know if it could be a bit crowded in season, but we were only 3 of 7 guests in September and there were a few hidieholes where you could escape to including a hammock under the trees. We felt like we were in a spanish pride and predjudice in the drawing room! The laptop itunes was set to "classical chill" which added to the relaxation... until the star wars death march came on! The views overlook old Valdelmossa town which is beautiful at sundown. You can dine outside with a (very nice) dinner al fresco if you order by mid-morning. We had gazpacho and then lamb with fresh vegetables. There is an honesty bar for coffee and drinks. We had a triple room which was nice.. it had views over the valley with old shutters. The walk to Valdelmossa is worth it but you might need a torch for the walk home ..we stumbled around in the dark!! I would recommend getting the old victorian train to Soller from Palma and sitting in the square with a freshly squeezed local orange juice. You can get a taxi from soller to the hotel but the taxi rank location isn't obvious... ask for directions and the taxi driver might complain (alot) that you are taking him "into the hills". In reality it is a 15 minute drive towards Valdelmossa on a gentle incline and is signposted before you reach the village. The hotel phone often has an answering machine on so don't expect to be able to get through immediately if you phone. The trip back to Palma by road in a taxi isn't far and is worth it between 3 or 4 people. We headed straight back to the airport.

Room Tip: The triple we were in had views across the valley

We went to the Mirabo de Valldemossa for the first few days of our honeymoon, and I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were lovely, and Antonio made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, as well as the lovely breakfasts we had dinner there twice which was lovely. There was a great selection of wine and the honesty bar had everything that you could possibly need.
Our room was beautiful, we had a view across the valley to Valldemossa and the room was furnished simply and stylishly; there are plenty of communal areas which are also beautifully appointed. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful too; there are two pools and never a shortage of sunbeds, and everything is immaculately kept.
Antonio was a great source of knowledge for the local area, not that we left the hotel much, and also gave us a wonderful restaurant recommendation for when we moved to the next hotel. Thank you Antonio for such a lovely stay. We will be back.

What a refreshing small hotel to stay at. The three nights spent there on a 3 week trip around Europe were without a doubt the most enjoyable and relaxing. It's the type of place one could easily stay at for a week. It's intimate without being over-familiar, the interiors and grounds of the property are charming and the breakfasts and dinners are superb. Ignacio and his staff have got all the elements of what makes a country retreat charming. Highly recommend.
