One of the best places I've ever stayed in. Extremely quiet, wonderful lanscape, nice country house very well renovated, an ideal place to remain far from the world for a few days.
Obviously not the best place if you're planning to spend your time on the beach, though, but the swimming pool is quite nice.

Stressed out? Go here to relax! The place only has 9 rooms, so you won't be bothered with a lot of other people. The rooms are spacious and the inifity pool is pretty and most of the times very quiet. Same goes for the big terrace and lovely living room. Lots of place to chill.

The only 'catch' for non-locals is probably the way up to the hotel: this mountain path is sometimes a bit steep and narrow and not for the faint-hearted driver. But if you're a good driver there's not much to it after you've driven it a few times!

We stayed for 5 nights here as part of 3 weeks travelling in Europe. I chose the Mirabo as it's location is close enough to all the things we wanted to visit such as Palma, the charming villages of the west coast, the beautiful Serra Traumuntera mountains & Valdemossa but was in a beautifully quiet location with spacious grounds, pool & magnificent views. I was a bit nervous as there were very mixed reviews but as nowhere else met my criteria any better I decided to give it a go & I also observed that the negative comments are actually quite old now so they seem to have sorted out some of the problems they have had in the past.
LOCATION
The location lived up to our expectations. It is an easy 30min drive from the airport & I certainly would not suggest staying here without a car. Palma is 15mins & Deia about the same. The road to the property is quite fine & I don't see why anyone would have an issue with it & there is a lovely track from the back of the hotel where you can walk into Valdemossa in about 20-25mins with only about 2mins on the main road.
ACCOMMODATION
We were not disappointed from the moment we arrived. This place is a charming retreat that really does feel almost as though you are staying in someone's private country residence. Because it only has 8 or 9 rooms everyone seems incredibly friendly & from the word go as we poured our first drink from the honesty bar in the guest kitchen area we were already chatting to 2 dutch guests who we joined with our drinks on the front patio area under the tree to watch the sun set.
It is a an old converted farmhouse & still has an amazing olive press preserved in one of the sitting rooms. We stayed in the Escalera room which was enormously spacious with an equally spacious bathroom complete with spa bath & a private courtyard area with sun lounges. We had to move to the Palmera suite upstairs for our our last night which they gave us for the same rate as there was a previous booking on our room. I think I would have been disappointed to have paid the extra money for the suite as apart from the view from the sitting room, the bedroom was smaller, the bathroom actually very small & with no spa & I felt the Escalera was way superior. I think the sofa in the lounge area of the suite might have converted to an extra bed so maybe with kids or an extra person you might choose the suite for that reason but with such lovely living spaces downstairs I would certainly not choose the suite for 2 people
DINING
Breakfast was served in the charmingly rustic dining area which in fine weather opens to the outdoors & when it was warm enough Antonio moved the tables right outside & when cooler the area has a clear blind dropped down & if necessary mushroom heaters. Breakfast was a typically continental selection of fruit, cereal, bread & pastries, cured meats, cheese etc with eggs available on request. Nespresso coffee is inclusive with breakfast & then available as part of the honesty bar for the rest of the day.
If you want to eat dinner in house you need to order by 3pm but they are flexible & when we couldn't make a reservation at the restaurant we intended to go to one night they happily accommodated us at a later time as they did on the night of our arrival which wasn't until 7pm & they still offered us a full choice from the menu.
The dinner menu is not extensive & is basically good home cooked local dishes. It is probably a little overpriced but the portions are very generous & the ambiance of the dining area makes it a delightful experience. The addition of some variety of vegetables or green salad would enhance the dinner menu enormously as the local 'tumbet' served with most of the mains whilst delicious becomes a bit repetitive. We ate in 3 nights out of 5 which was enough for us.
STAFF
The staff led by Antonio are extremely helpful & full of advice on the area, providing plenty of information & maps. Antonio kindly did a load of washing for us in their machine at no charge after I asked whether there was a launderette in town & there is a general feeling of warmth & generosity about the place. On the day we left our flight was quite late in the day so we were able to stay in our room till 1pm when we settled the bill but Antonio welcomed us to stay by the pool for the rest of afternoon & help ourselves to a complimentary drink from the bar before our departure.
CONS
If I was to make any criticism it would be that a price list for the bar & the wines would be a good idea. We took Ignacio's recommendation of a local red made for the hotel on the first night & loved it so ordered it again but had no idea how much it cost until we got the bill at the end. By our restaurant standards it was still cheap but by local standards probably quite expensive.

In summary, if you are a looking for a traditional 4-5 star hotel experience with highly trained staff at your beck & call this is not the place for you. If you are looking for something with casual elegance & warm hospitality, if you like the idea of pouring yourself a gin & tonic when you fancy & sipping it out on the terrace or grabbing a beer from the bar fridge by the pool, where you can feel at home & relaxed in charmingly rustic surrounds & away from the tourist throngs then I highly recommend this place.

After a 1km drive up a very narrow mountain road we found our hotel. A very nice place with nice rooms. Some writes inhere it is IKEA furniture and maybe it is, but who cares. The place is fantastic and the service is good. We didn´t eat dinner there, but breakfast was fine, however bread is bake-off.

We will not go again because we tried it now, but still recommend it to others.

All in all 2 great days.

This was our last short break before entering the world of parenthood, and we couldn't have wished for more. The hotel, just a short drive from Palma, is surrounded by citrus trees and has an amazing air of tranquility. The stay has made even better because of the service and in particular Antonio, with his trusty pug, Luna. Thank you. We will be back.
