Blue Sea Gran Playa

Reviewed 13 August 2017

We have just returned from a one week family stay. We travelled as a family of five adults and two children aged 7 and 5, and booked three rooms. We requested the rooms to be close to each other and the staff happily obliged. We found all the staff very helpful and polite. In particular, the entertainment staff who worked hard and quickly learned our names and our children's names which made us feel 'welcome'. The pool area was cleaned each morning and bins regularly emptied throughout the day. A huge positive for us was the feeling of safety around the pool. We could always see our children from our sun beds while they were in the pool or helping themselves to the drinks, ice creams, or snacks available during the day. The life guard was also very friendly though he said he finishes working there this weekend. As other reviews have pointed out, the rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment, but they were cleaned each day and provided very good value for money. We also agree with previous comments about the lack of variety of food served in the restaurant, but what was on offer was tasty and plentiful and we never had to queue for food or wait for a table to be available. One of our party has a food allergy and the chef was more than happy to explain the menu and even offered to make 'special' meals for her. The hotel is well situated to the main strip of shops and restaurants and is just a few minutes walk to a beautiful beach and promenade. In conclusion, if you are looking for a five star hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you are on a budget, then this three star, family friendly hotel is great value for money. We just hope this hotel will not be out of our budget next year after it has been updated. To the management... please thank all your staff for a memorable, family holiday. We truly appreciated how hard they worked.

Hi Julie B

It makes us happy to know that your stay and that of your family has been enjoyable and that in general, your satisfaction high. We thank you with all our hearts for writing so in your review.

We also believe that our Aparthotel is ideal for a family holiday due to its great location close to the beach, perfect facilities for families and the high value for money it offers. For these reasons it is the best hotel that one can choose in Sa Coma whilst being kind to the pocket and we love to see that you also think alike.

We especially thank you for your positive comments about the treatment you received from the staff. As well as this, the Chef and our Director also thank you for your positive comments.

We all send you an affectionate greeting from Mallorca and hope to see you again in the future.

Hi Squintal2017,

Thank you for reviewing the Aparthotel Blue Sea Gran Playa in such a positive way and for rating us so highly. You are very gracious for this and we thank you with all our hearts.

As you say, the Aparthotel is located in a perfect area, very close to the beach and the promenade yet very quiet too. In addition, the value for money is very high, all of which makes it an ideal place for summer holidays. We are already working on planning of the refurbishment of the rooms, so that the next time you come back, the renovation will be done and you can enjoy it even more! You will always be welcome.

I really wanted to write a good review after reading so many poor ones, but after arriving on Weds 2nd and eating the food on Weds evening and all day Thursday, we came down with terrible diarrhoea. We were stuck in our room for two days and were mildly better with Imodium. Such a shame as when we did get better the food in Sa Coma's various eateries were great, the beach was fantastic and Blue Sea's pools were great. The room was fine, on the seventh floor with comfy beds and a great sea view, but the staff at the snack bar were very grumpy. They would ignore you while they sorted cutlery, and cant see why crisps aren't included. When we got better we just ate out all week. JJs bar for breakfast was really good and Kenna's for an evening heal was wonderful, even though we did feel sick after eating for most of the week due to the bug we'd picked up.. Not worth all inclusive prices, but the location was great. The entertainment team were fabulous and worked really hard and were very friendly. Still at the resort but have spent £400+ on snacks and meals out for the kids. Wouldn't come to Blue Sea again but would definitely come to Sa Coma again. Great resort. Taxi to Cala Millie is 5€ while the bus for three is €7. Save your legs in the heat and get a taxi for a morning out.

Hello Lveetee,

We are sad to see that the catering aspect has not been to your liking and even more so to hear that you claim to have suffered with diarrhoea because of it. So far, you are the only person who has complained of this and in general, the guests are more or less happy with the food offered. We apologise that if in your case, this has not been so.
Satisfying the culinary taste of all our international clients is not easy but we will continue trying to do so with much work and enthusiasm.

We appreciate the rest of your positive conments. Indeed the Aparthotel is very well located and the facilities are very much in keeping with the 3 star rating. In general the price-quality ratio is very high, so it is generally pleasing to the public. This was not your case and we apologise. We send you a warm greeting from Sa Coma.

Me and my partner usually go to Caribbean or Greece but decided we would come to Majorca this year. I have to say Sa coma beach is stunning with beautiful azure blue sea! The hotel is clean and staff friendly and my partner loved the full English breakfast every morning! The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the shops, bars and restaurants so super convenient. Couple of negatives: only a few umbrellas around the pool and although food is very nice, it can seem a bit 'samey' e.g. Beef stew, lamb stew, veal stew etc But saying that, a good value hotel, with day and night time entertainment for everyone x

Starting with the positives rooms were ok they do the job after all who stays in their room on holiday!! Saying that on the last night the air con stopped working...pool area satisfactory nice clean pools but not enough sun beds they could really get rid of some of the tables and chairs and put more beds down. Snack bar was a total joke doesn't even deserve the name using left over food from night before, ketchup and sauces were just covered up on an open table I'm amazed people were not constantly ill!! We were appalled at the lack of security not one security guard on sight no locks on outside gates so even street sellers could just walk in not a safe environment when you have children! Now to the staff , receptionists were fantastic animation team did what they could with the tools they were given but amazingly always had smiles on faces , however, the bar staff were awful so miserable too busy messing around with cutlery whilst lots of people were waiting to be served and when you did get served you were given half a glass of a small glass lol...the worst thing however, has to be the food it was simply awful!! Breakfast was the best meal but after that forget it nothing went together my husband lived on bread rolls until he discovered pasta with Tabasco sauce , I lived on asparagus and ham and kids lived on chips...not even salt and pepper on tables it was in sachets and the air con in restaurant was non excistant! Really is such a shame as could be a lovely hotel if they spent money on it overall we made the most of what we had and enjoyed our family holiday given the circumstances and met some lovely people...if you do come here take plenty of money as sa coma itself is a lovely resort with some great bars and restaurants and you really will want to get out of the hotel
